Now obviously in translation you don't really need to know any techniques but I think there are a few things you can do to make things easier for editors and timers.
I'm a relatively new translator so I haven't discovered alot of GOOD things to do yet so the following picture showed a part of my translation. This translation will be given to an editor whose Thai is better then mine.
So you see its not perfect.
First important thing to do is to give a short title of the scene then put the TIME beside it. I think this is going to be important if we're going to SPLIT the work between alot of people. I hope translators will think of this when they do the work.
The best thing to do is to put each sentence one after another on different lines beside the speaker's name. See that on some lines I forgot to do that. So I guess I'll have to fix my work.
Another thing I like to do is to give a little description beside the line if I"m not too shore. That way the editor will know that perhaps he/she can make it a little better.
I also think its important to type out all lines.. so if there is a sentence of lines you don't know.. you SHOULD write it in KARAOKE STYLE. If you don't then the editor or the timer will get confused.
One last thing I like to do is to HIGHLIGHT the karaoke words in RED.. that is to make them distinct from the rest of the text. The reason I do this is because even though karaoke language is easy to find when someone reads hundreds of lines.. they will get tired and make mistakes.. So for best result you should do this.
I use wordpad to write the text.. that way I can use some colors.
ANYWAY if you have any OTHER GOOD ideas .. Feel free to post right under this pinned thread.
