I just saw a little of the old version. Basically got taken away from his mom when he was born. P'ek mom's dad was trying to escape from police after he committed some crime so he gave his daughter and all his land to his good friend so that they would take care of his daughter. They raised her well and then had her marry their son. But on the wedding night they tricked her and had one of their def servants sleep with her. Of course she was tossed out of the house and went to marry someone else. Had a baby and then they came and took the baby away from her.

Sorry that's all I watched, but it seemed like a very good story line.
