Because it's Karakade's body that you're in. She's not tough like you.

Mark Chao was somewhat known before for his "tough guy" role in movies. He'd only done (I think) two or three dramas before Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms. TMPB marked (;)) a completely different kind of role for him, becuase his character in it is not so tough guy as romance hero. So yeah, his rise to fame is somewhat like Pope's, but I don't think he's struggled quite as much with his career.

Both men really earned their fame, though. They are both first-rate actors who are very decent people and are down-to-earth.
Love the way you say it, about their happy endings. I think they too will never forget this part of their lives.

@Chario mintmario said Jumpa went into her room & cried over whipping Kade. If only we have those scenes too. Jumpa crying is like winning the lottery.

Love has nothing to do with bodies.
There's nothing wrong with them really, they're undoubtedly a very beautiful couple. I saw them first in the quadruplet series and although a tomboy heroine isn't my thing I was okay with that story. It was a sweet romance & I liked Nadech from there. I see he's talented enough to go further. But when it comes to him that's all there is - a Yadech, their movies play in quick succession. They should have kept the mystery of their onscreen coupling much further in between. I started with these dramas because of Aum Artichart. He's never failed me with any of his characters, even if the pairing isn't nice he still came through - although I didn't like the period movie where he was the blacksmith's son. The romance in that was too torturing but still I watched till the end. Yaya was in one of his pairings & she's the only one I struggled to watch. That's when I realised I only like the Nadech half of their onscreen outings. In real life I'm all for it they get married soon!
Ditto.

I don't like Yang Mi. Haha.
I was the same. But she's so good at picking her dramas and her leading men so I keep watching her stuff (first Les Interpretes, then Eternal Love), and I have to say that I now feel better towards her than I used to. Now I can't dislike her. :p
Gonna watch her new drama, Legend of Fu Yao.

YES it's SO good. The female lead isn't as cute and lovable as Karakade, but she fits well with the male lead. He's like Khun P'. There are Eng subs on youtube.
Mark Chao is GORGEOUS, at least imo. He's a great actor too.
I highly recommend it, it's pretty long but I really enjoyed it. It's a beautiful drama.
We had an Eternal Love discussion a few hundred pages back. And I was saying too that BPS is also Three Lives Three Worlds... haha! :p
I'm a total, absolute, complete Dong Hua/Feng Jiu trash - which explains my current signature~

Highly recommend that one. We discussed this in this thread before but I don't remember when. No one expect Ten Miles of Peach Blossom to explode. Yang Mi has always been a big actress but Mark Chao was not in the radar. The drama success made Mark Chao a husband of nation just like what it did to Pope. And we have second couples where they have limited screen time and even their storyline got adjusted just like what they did to Rueng and Janward. But second couples also received a lot of popularity. It launched Dilireba's and Vengo's career.

The situation of this chinese drama is so similar to BPS. They had very good set of OSTs. It was also treated as a step child coz it didn't get to air on mainstream TV...lol..anyway, guarantee that everyone who watch it will fall for both couples and for sure the main couples. :risas3: I wrote an essay again.
Haha yes we did!

To be exact, people were expecting the TMOPB drama to be a flop. Back then, people were all going berserk over Mark Chao's Ye Hua first photos - because it. was. really. ugly. I swear! Lol!! I was there to witness it. Then his acting was so good that he proved everyone wrong. I wouldn't really say it launched Dilraba and Vengo's careers because they've been around for some time already, and Dilraba had already been pretty popular. But definitely, it pushed to them to greater heights.

TMOPB wasn't actually treated like a stepchild. It was aired on mainstream TV because it's Yang Mi's drama after all. It was the audience which hated the idea of it before it aired. :p BPS is the stepchild, while TMOPB is the biological child who was loved by the parents but all the relatives thought it would be a goner then got proven wrong. :risas3:

Many people said drama part 1 is better than novel..similar to BPS again. Another production who got license for part 2 is making it with original cast from part 1 (Dilireba and Vengo confirmed). Don't know if they could get cameo of Yang Mi and Mark Chao or not.
Pillow Book is filming currently. But no idea yet whether YM and Mark Chao would be cameoing. Though some of the other characters from TMOPB like Si Ming and Lian Song will be back played by the same actors!

Amata

@Rosi I agree with @Amata that the moon in Janward's and Date's poem refer to Janward since Jan means Moon. Even Kade recognized that they flirt even in the poem.
Credit to Santeti Leekit on FB. This user explained that in the novel Kade intend to encourage Janward with her poem to not underestimate herself. Janward implied that she is a lowly moon, her place is not on the sky but on the ground. So, Kade implied that the moon on the ground like Janward is rare and valuable. But Date was so lost with how good Kade's poem was that he thought Kade is that moon (the rare walking moon) instead of Janward. Luckily i saved his/her translation of the 3 poems coz i found they are easy to understand. I would love to see your translation too when you have time @Amata

Janward's poem:
The lowly moon is out-shined by the sunlight
Makes her light not bright like before
Plus the clouds obstruct her way like the wall
I, then, know my place. It's as low as the floor (ground)

Date's poem:
Though the moon is blocked and out-shined
Flocks of birds still chirp, praise her high
So the moon does care the clouds. why?
The little star shall fly to fight along with the moon

Kade's poem:
The moon on the sky is boring and easy to find
The moon on earth is precious like sapphire
The walking moon that can keep you company is utterly rare
The floating moon on the sky has nothing but the glare
@Chario mintmario @Rosi @phatman

I have read the poems that you share many times compared with the Thai version. I think the person who translated and wrote these poems are very good at the Thai language, Thai poetry and the English Language. But there are some lines that I’m not certain, so I ‘ll talk about them only from my angle. For this Jaanwaad’s poem the content covers the Thai version.

Janward's poem:
The lowly moon is out-shined by the sunlight
Makes her light not bright like before
Plus the clouds obstruct her way like the wall
I, then, know my place. It's as low as the floor (ground)

Hidden Meaning : Jaanwaad was in the mood of being offended.

Seeing what happened to the Moon, Jaanwaad thought of herself. Even it was so high in the sky, the moon was not able to shine fully because of the sunlight and the clouds. Then herself just was on the ground, she should not hope or dream of anything that maybe impossible or too far for her to grab it like, to win Date’s heart or to be his spouse.

Date's poem:
Though the moon is blocked and out-shined
Flocks of birds still chirp, praise her high
So the moon does care the clouds. why?
The little star shall fly to fight along with the moon

As I told you, I think the last line of Date’s poem that you posted here is different from mine. It maybe because of my poor English, skill on Thai poetry and my imagination. I haven’t understand it all yet. So I don’t mind if there is anyone see different.

Interpretation

The Sun is going down and the Moon is obscured by the clouds.
Birds still accept the influence of the Moon. When it comes, they chirp flying back to their nests.
So why does the Moon have to care for the clouds.
Even the star does not dare to compete with the moon.

Hidden Meaning : Date wanted to comfort Jaanwaad. (Her name’s meaning is about the Moon as well.............................Jaan = The Moon, Waad = Draw

From her Klong, after seeing what happened to the Moon, Jaanwaad compared herself that she was as low as the ground. But in Date’s Klong, he compared her as the Moon. Although it was obscured by the clouds, it still had influence lives on the Earth. The moonlight didn’t grow bright to the sky because of the sunlight but its light was brighter than stars. So they were the stars had to be humble, didn’t dare to go along the moon. (Stars here, Date might mean himself or any other men.)
All in all Date would like to tell Jaanwaad that she wasn’t so low as the ground and she might not meet the right man yet) The red sentence I may interpret further than the content.

Kade’s poem (Klon)

For Kade’s Klon I have translated and talked about it already. I hope you don’t mind if I am talking about only the hidden meaning.
For the contexts of this scene between the book and the lakorn are different, so I’m starting with the context in the book first.

Hidden meaning in the book

In the book it is clear that the Moon in Kade’s klon, Kade meant Jaanwaad. After Jaaward read her Klon in the mood of being offended. Date comforted Jaanward but Kade saw that just Date’s Klong was not enough so she turned to Jaanwaad and cited this Klong. That made their relationship better. When Jaanwaad was leaving for her home. They walked to the pier together.

Hidden meaning in the lakorn

The context in the Lakorn is more complicated than the book. In the lakorn Kade was forced to do it. In order to understand Kade’s situation, I need to repeat some conversation in the scene to see that who forced her.

After Janward and Por Date wrote and read their Khlongs.

Kadesurang..........Jeeab Kan Yan Klong Klon. ( It means “to flirt with each other even from Klong Klon /poetry)

Kosa Pan..............Mae Karakade, aren’t you joining in?
Por Date...............She never does it. No one knows if she can write poetry or not. But it seems like she can’t.
Muen Rueang.......Won’t you compete? Mae Karakade
Kade.....................Compete what, Muen Rueang?
Muen Rueang.......This (look at a slate in front of him). You can write Khlong or Klon. (up to you)
Kade.....................If it is Klon Pratoo I would be able to do it. (Kade was joking) Pratoo = Door. Klon that she said she meant bolt for locking the door. This word is the same spelling and pronunciation ...................................as Klon (Poetry)

Muen Rueang.......Laugh

Ko sa Lek..............Being insulted like this, won’t you try?
Khun Lung............Called a servant to take a slate with pencil stone for Kade. That pushed her in pressure to do something.

Actually Kade had tried to tell them that she could not write any poem but people in Ayuttaya Era didn' t know. If you were a Thai living in Thailand now. When you ask anyone to write poetry and they say “If it is Klon Pratoo I would be able to do it” That means they cannot write it so you don’t have to ask them again. This sentence is not just a joke.

To be continued

Kade was forced to do it. No one knew if she thought about the Klon and who was her moon walking on the ground. But while she was reading, she often looked at Date not Jaanwaad. So let me guess. After Kade listened to both Jaanwaad and Date’s Klongs. She would like to tell both of them that why you had to care for the Moon on the sky. It was far way, too high to grab. Why don’t you find the moon walking on the ground, it was more beautiful. Though it was hard to find, it was on earth. If you tried you would find one.

So let the listeners think by themselves who was their moon walking on the ground. In this scene there would be one, his moon walking on the ground sitting in front of him.

I do hope this would make true fans of BPS enjoy this scene more.

Sorry I made some mistakes but I have corrected them.

Lol...we were both Dong Hua/ Feng Jiu trash...haha. You are right that Dilireba and Vengo have been around for quite sometimes but it's TMOPB really helped them especially Vengo to get lead role. I forgot one more actor. It's Zhang Bin Bin, our great ghost lord. He got so popular after that. One more similarity of this drama to BPS is that both have good looking cast. They came in a set. Hope they could get child actor who play Ali to be in Pillow Book too. He's so adorable. There will be quite a lot of funny scenes of him and Feng Jiu in pillow book.
DONG FENG YASSS :aaaaa:
You're right, he got 2 lead roles now after TMOPB.
My Binbin...~ :icon12: He actually truly started getting popular and recognised because of Love O2O, but yeah TMOPB was another push for him though to a lesser extent of impact as compared to Love O2O, I felt. And then he's getting lead roles now. So happy for him because he has been my favourite for some time now ever since Love O2O.
This is also why I have a weak spot for YM... like... I adore so many of her company's actors... I love Binbin and I love Vengo too. TMOPB casting was actually not too bad even though they used a lot of Jaywalk's own actors.

I didn't think much about Mark Chao's looks until I saw him act - it was especially because I didn't find Ye Hua's styling flattering at all... haha That's his charm - his talent! I think this is where he and Pope is considered to be similar. They will completely win people over with their talent and charisma.
Oh, I think the thing about China's channels is that, there are many of them. TMOPB was on ZJTV, which I think is still considered one of the mainstream channels... I'm not as familiar with China TV channels. I just know that it's mainstream - not sure whether there's some sort of ranking in terms of popularity.

Ooh. I haven't heard any news about Ah Li yet. Indeed, he has a lot of scenes in Pillow Book!

I didn't finish Ya's lakorns with Por (rip) or Aum either but then I was always a Nadech fan first. You can tell from my FMVs .... I made so many because I was madly in love with Nadech and I was young but Yaya does grow on you. She is a beautiful girl with a nice personality. To me, I would prefer her to do modern lakorns instead of traditional roles. She is not soft and small so often it's hard to get into seeing or feeling her character like Mayumi in Rising Sun. I wanted her in it and regretted it because she couldn't pull off a Japanese woman vibe.
