Chapter 1

Kob wore a yellow dress that came up to her knee and a tight blue jean. She looks into the mirror and combed her long wavy hair, then fixed her side bangs. Stared at the mirror infront of her longer than usual.

Aunt: “Hurry child. The flowers will wither.” Her aunt warns her, although they were just cut that misty morning.

Kob and her aunt owned a little flower shop to make a living. She helps her aunt plants and cut the flowers at times, but mostly does the delivery.

Kob hurried down the stairs and slips on her flats. Upstairs was their house, downstairs was their shop. Her aunt gave her hug before she rode her bike down the road with the bouquet of flower in her basket. She was in awe when she came upon a big business building. She forgets her bike and leaned it next to the curb instead of making it stand up. When she took a step forward, she heard a car screeching and then an impact. There was a silver mercedes parked over where her bike was supposed to be laying.

Kob: “No….!!!” She goes to the head of the car and kneeled down as she peeked underneath the car, the smoke got onto her face, she quickly gets up. She coughed and rubbed her nose. Her bike was run over. “Why don’t you watch were you’re driving?” She knocks on the driver window. The door opens, purposely hitting Kob.

The man was clean cut, had on sunglass and business suit. He didn’t speak to her instead went to check out his car. He had the man in the passenger side take over the situation. He tells Kob the driver wasn’t going to pay for the loss. Kob didn’t want to talk to him she wanted to talk to the man who ran her bike over. She chased after him as he casually walked into the building. She continued to badger him even when they reached the elevator. Seeing that the elevator will take a while to get down she teases the man.

Kob: “Who wears sunglass on a misty morning? The sun is barely up. Oh…a blind person, no wonder he ran over my bike.” The man took of his sunglass and sternly glared at her.

Tik Jessadaporn Pholdee, was in his early 20’s, born in Thailand, raised in Japan. After their parents divorce, he choose to live with his mother to be near his mother because she needed him. She had cancer and died a few years after the divorce leaving Tik in the custody of his guardian, a friend of his mother. He continue his studies in Japan until he was ready to take on his father’s job in Thailand at the famous publishing company, a magazine company that feature new line of fashion. He arrives in Thailand a week early.

***Kob follows along with Tik into the elevator***

Kob: “Are you going to pay for my loss.”

Tik: “No.”

Kob: “You clearly ran over my bike.”

Tik: “You were parked in the car zone. Not just that you had your bike improperly parked. It’s your own fault.”

Kob: “You have to pay for the damages, you can’t just run away with this, I should at least get something.” She shook the flowers at him. When she realize she was harming the flowers, she gently holds it.

Tik: “I won’t pay for something that isn’t my fault, understand.” He continued to stand infront of the elevator door calmly and patiently. Kob knows she won’t win the fight, it was indeed her fault. “If you’re not happy with it, we can always go to court.”

Kob: “No…no…it’s fine.”

Tik: “You won’t get through a job interview like that.” He studies the way she dresses. From her reflection in the iron elevator door.

Kob: “Job interview? I’m here to deliver flowers.” She glanced down at her flower bouquet and notice the name tag was missing. She takes her cellphone out and calls her aunt. Her aunt tells her it was there but she must have lost it on the way. Her aunt gives her the name of the women the flowers are sent to, only the first name. Kob smiles at Tik. “Sorry to bother you, but do you have a pen? He takes a fancy pen out of his inside pocket and gave it to her. She tears the corner of her notepad, she turns around so the men wouldn’t know what she was doing. She wrote down. “SUVANANT” onto the piece of paper, her aunt lets her know the name of the men who orders it too. Kob stuck the note inside the bouquet. The door opens when she finished writing down the last letter.

Tik walks out before she could give the pen back to him. He looked like a man who had standards, his spine was perfectly straight as he walk down the large hallway, very proud. Someone covers her eyes from behind, she drops her flowers. In self-defense class, she learned how to fight a predator off. She stomps on the person’s feet and then elbowed him. She could hear him moan in pain. She turns around to punch him but he catches her fist.

Chakrit: “Usually you know the procedure, how come today you didn’t dodge me?” Kob yanks her hand away.

Kob: “I will report harassment lawsuit against you, you pervert.”

Chakrit: “How am I a pervert, we worked together everyday.” She backs away as he pace at her and step on her flowers, she could hear a crunch noise as the stem cracks.

Kob: “Ahhh!!!” She shrieks as she picks up her flowers. “My flowers are dead because of you, now I can’t send it out.” When she held onto the bouquet they flowers were drooping. He wonder why she would want to send them out when he brought them for her. He reached out to stroke her hair but she slaps it away.

Chakrit: “What’s up with your outfit today? Trying to blend in with the crowd? You look silly, but cute.” He laughs at her.

Kob: “Is this some kind of a joke. A prank? Where’s the camera?” She looks around. “I have a errand to run to earn money. I’m not just some toys you rich brat can play with to have fun.”

Chakrit: “What are you upset about?”

Kob: “I lost my bike and now I’m getting pester by a stranger.” She clutches onto her bouquet flowers and runs off toward the stair area so she can make her way down. She left a trail of flower petals behind her. Kob rush back. “Anyone knows Mr. Yamnam?” Chakrit chuckle and raised his hand.

Chakrit: “That’s me.” She push the flowers into his chest, then leaves. “Hey, these are for you…”

Downstairs, Kob barge out of the building, she takes a glance the building once more and yells at it, only to have people stare at her like she was crazy. When she saw the security guard taking her bike to the large trash can she stops him and takes her deform bike back home.

When Kob arrived home, her aunt wasn’t in the garden. She throws her bike aside and goes into the house. She wasn’t in the kitchen cooking either. She found her aunt resting on the bed.

Kob: “Aunty. Are you feeling okay?”

Aunt: “I am fine.”

Kob: “Did you eat your daily pills?”

Aunt: “I already did. You came home early.”

Kob: “My bike got total and I couldn’t send the flowers to our customer.”

Aunt: “What a bad day.” She observed her niece. “Are you hurt anywhere?”

Kob: “No. Don’t worry.”

Aunt: “As long as you are okay. Who cares about the delivery or the bike.”

Later the day, Kob made soup for her aunt. While her aunt ate porridge in the living room she puts on the news channel. An entertainment news came on talking about ‘Illusion Magazine’ Kob took a sip of water as she watch the reporter talk “The son of the company had arrived, will he replace his cousin? If he does, then it seem to us he didn’t even had to work hard to become boss, can we say a cheater. What will happen to Chakrit? He’ll get demoted?” They show a picture of Chakrit next to Tik. Kob spit out the water in her mouth and turns to tell her aunt of the encounter she had with them.

Downstairs, the jingled of the door bell rung. She went to greet the customer. There was a tall elderly man standing by the counter.

Kob: “Can I help you?” The strange men gazed at her for a long time as though startled. The person introduced himself as Dr. Patchai. He asked to meet her aunt. “My aunt isn’t feeling well right now, I don’t think she can come down, can you come some other time?”

Dr. Patchai: “What is your name?”

Kob: “Kob…”

Dr. Patchai: “Kob…” He whispers. “The name your mother wanted.” He thinks back to Kob’s mother words the moment she was born ‘She’s cute and a cry baby like the croaking amphibian outside, I’ll name her Kob.’

Kob was going to go up the stairs but her aunt was already walking down the stairs. Her aunt tells her to water the plants while she took care of business there, so she leaves into the green house.

Dr. Patchai: “Did you know you had kidnap her?”

Mother: “You consider it kidnapping? She’s my niece.”

Dr. Patchai: “She belongs to her father family.”

Aunt: “Of course you’re going to say that because you are own by them.” She paced around. “I couldn’t let that women take my niece, You saw how torn apart my sister was. That witch didn’t even let her breast feed the child.”

Dr. Patchai: “You’ve been hiding for so long. Why did you finally reveal me of your hideout.”

Aunt: “Kob had been so good to me over the years, I believe she’s at an understandable age, to decide what is right and what is wrong. I swear to my sister that I would teach her daughter to accept and be proud of her mother’s heritage, so I did, my job is done.”

***Later that night. At Pholdee’s residence***

Mr. Pholdee: “No one knew of his arrival. How can this news get out so fast.”

Chakrit: “It must be the doings of a rival magazine company.”

Mr. Pholdee: “Make sure to check up on it.”

Chakrit: “I will.” Mr. Pholdee, the old men treated him in his own son, but never above his real son. Despite that, he works hard to created a name for himself.

Mr. Pholdee looks at his watch and at the door, Tik hasn’t come home.

***At a famous geisha hotel. Tik enters, he wasn’t a regular there but knows the routine. The housing was exact japanese style. He went to change in to a kimono. When he came out the girls were finished setting the table. He sits down and relaxed.

Girl: “Sake, mister.” She pours him a drink. Before his lips touch the cup a traditional instrument begun to play. The hands that play the koto gently flicked the strings, the music sooth his home sickness. Tik remembers when he left Japan yesterday.

He and his mother wasn’t of any Japanese ethnic group but his mother loved sakura flowers so she choose to reside in that country after her divorce with Mr. Pholdee.

He raised his head and gaze at the four panel folding screen that was a few feet away from him. He could see a figure behind it, playing the instrument, he wonder why she doesn’t want to be reveal, it was almost tempting to him.

As the music plays, Tik begin to drink his anger away. He further his studied in business, never thought that his guardian would deceive him, never told him that the money for his college funds were coming from his father, a man who he couldn’t forgive for having an affair and causing the family to break apart. He hears the string of the instrument break during half way of the song.

Kob tugged on the string a little harder than usual which made it snap. She was worried about her aunt, although she had told her she was okay and for her to go ahead and attend her second job. They geisha house couldn’t exist without a koto player.

Girl: “Are you alright?” She spoke in broken Thai.

Kob: “I’m sorry. I won’t be able to finish the song.” She bowed downs. She could re-attach the string but she didn’t feel like playing.

Tik: “It’s alright.”

Girl: “You can leave.” She tells Kob.

Tik: “I’ve paid my share. Even if you can’t play, at least stay there for me to stare at.” He drinks until he was intoxicated.

Girl: “You can hold your liquor sir.” She was impressed because with all the drinks he consumed he could still sit up. He gives her a card to the hotel he was staying in, it was a five star hotel. “We’ll call a cab for you.” She tells Tik. “Younger sister, please watch him for a bit.”

Tik was mumbling a lot of things, Kob got curious so she peeked through the slide. He had his hands covering his face almost like he was depressed.

Tik: “I don’t want to face it. Offer me some advice.” Kob wrapped a white cloth over her head hiding her face only revealing her eyes. She tightened her red kimono and sat across from him. She puts her hand on her laps.

Kob: “You can run away from it.” There was still two minutes before his time was over so they were still in business. She had to be his companion.

Tik: “Run?”

Kob: “But you can’t hide forever.”

Girl: “Sir, the five minutes and the cab will be here.” Kob pressed her palm against the table and was going to get up but Tik puts a hand on top of hers keeping her down. One hand still covering half his face, his other half was glaring at her. His stare pierced her skin.

Kob: “You…” She gasps. She immediately slides her hand out and stood up.

Tik: “What is your name?”

Kob: “I’m sorry. But it’s confidential.” She walks toward the door. Tik could only see things in blurry images. He could see as the women in the red kimono lavishly walking away, she turns the corner of the door and disappears.

After Tik leaves, Kob went to change into her regular outfit. The night was fading and it was time for her to go home. As she put her kimono and sandal into the lockers she notice her hand was bare. In the room where she met Tik she searched all around and asked the worker there if they found a ring. It belonged to her mother so she was very upset that it was lost. The place was going to close, her boss lets her know she’ll continue to look into it the next morning. Kob left the place gloomy.

Chapter 2

***The next morning***

Dr. Patchai drives Kob to a cemetery. He helps Kob takes out a bouquet of flowers.***

Dr. Patchai: “You’re aunt said she would bring you here once a week.”

Kob: “True. My mother rest here. Though when my aunt and I come visit we only come when it gets dark.”

Dr. Patchai: “I’m going to tell you a story of a women we are going to meet today. I want you to listen carefully.” They walk into through a pathway. There was a Japanese women who worked in a geisha house, here in Thailand. A rich men fell in love with her, but sadly, his mother who raised him all by herself, did not approve of her. Because of their standard and cultural differences. They got marry against her wishes and soon the women was pregnant. On the delivery date, the elderly women told her, her husband had found someone new. The elderly lady gave her a sum of money to stay away from her family. That included the baby she just delivered, since the baby was her son’s flesh and blood she has no resentment toward the innocent grandchild. The elderly lady didn’t want any influence from the women who she call a whore.”

Kob: “Many people would be judgmental toward Geisha because they accompany guys. But a geisha is an entertainer, not a prostitute.” Dr. Patchai smiled. “If they fall in love, doesn’t mean it was for money.”

Dr. Patchai: “Perhaps you should tell your grandmother that. Stand up to the women who your mother couldn’t go against.” He thinks quietly. He continued the story “The women continue to cry feverishly, she only got to hold her child for a minute. After an hour pass, the women started to have another contraction. The nurse let me know and I quickly realized there was another one on the way, one that I didn’t catch in the x-rays.”

Kob: “Twins?” She exclaimed.

***Illusion Magazine company***

In a stylish silver dress adorn with beaded straps, a young women with long wavy hair and a glamorous vibrant essence walks into the building and is greeted with respect. The back of her dress had an oval gap revealing her bare skin. The dress came down to her knee showing off her slim smooth legs. When she got to the elevator door it opens for her right away, people inside the elevator got off and the ones waiting wouldn’t dare to enter with her. She stood inside the elevator alone. As the door was about to close Chakrit enters.

Chakrit: “Yesterday, you dress like a pheasant, now you dress elegant.” The women took off her glasses, but did not respond. “Did I do something wrong this time, Suvanant?”

Suvanant: “My grandmother warns me since I was at a tender age, that you’re only cousin to the Pholdee’s. Therefore your rank is lower to I. As I speak to you, I am wasting my precious breath.”

Chakrit: “Ha.” He chuckles Today. He finally understood why Kob was cold toward him since they were children. He grabs her wrist before she could leave. “We’re both human, can you rank me?”

Suvanant: “I am human but you are of another species.” Chakrit was hurt. She yanks her hand out. “Get out of my.” She says calmly.

Mr. Kongying: “What’s with the intense atmosphere?”

Suvanant: “Mr. Yamnam was the first to proceed an physical attack and is blocking my way. I want an apology.” She said with great arrogance.

Mr. Kongying: “Don’t take this further than it should be.” He was embarrassed for his daughter’s action.

Chakrit: “It’s alright Mr. Kongying. There is no reason to defend me. I am at fault.” He stood across from her. “I’m am sincerely sorry.”

Suvanant: “You’re apology is very appreciative, however…” She lifts her chin up. “It doesn’t mean I forgive you.”

Chakrit: “Pardon me…couldn’t you try better than that to hurt me?”

Suvanant: “I can’t stand to hear a dog bark.” She walks off. Leaving her father to apologize to Chakrit.

Chakrit: “I’m used to it.” Mr. Kongying pats his back for emotional support, he knows Chakrit has a crush on her.

***Back at the Cemetery***

Dr. Patchai: “Correct. Twins. Identical twins. I have told the women before if she was to give birth to the child her life will end, but she told me she had lived her life to the fullest, therefore she wanted her child to have a chance to see the beauty of the world.” He lighted some incense. “She died, five minutes after giving birth to the second child. Before I could tell the elderly lady of the second child, she was taken by her aunt.” He plucks down the incense into the ground, right in front of Kob’s mother grave stone. “I couldn’t tell the elderly lady because I was afraid she’ll do something bad to the aunt, a women whom I admire.” The doctor turns to her and gave her a chilling stare. “Before the women died she said her child was cute and a cry baby like the croaking amphibians outside. So she name the child…Kob”

Kob: “….” She stares at the doctor confused and dazed. “My aunt told me after an earthquake in Japan killed their Japanese mother and Italian father. My mom and aunt came to Thailand, they open a flower shop together.” That was all her aunt told her, she never said anything about her father or another sister.

Dr. Patchai: “You’re aunt pursued the floral business, your mother wanted to stay true to herself so she worked in the geisha house. You mother wanted her child to keep her heritage, one idea which your grandmother refuse to let happen. You’re father, Mr. Kongying, is still alive.”

Kob: “You’re telling me this now, there must be something wrong?”

Dr. Patchai: “Your aunt only has a month to live. The reason I admire your aunt was because she kept herself active and strong even with an incurable illness. She says now that she has taught you everything you need to know about your mother’s culture, she can release you.”

Kob: “I need time to sink this in.”

Dr. Patchai: “Take all the time you need.” He gives her a contact card.

When Kob enter the flower shop, almost everything upstairs was clean up. Downstairs, she saw letter on the counter table for her. And a note for Dr. Patchai. She read hers and Patchai takes his letter outside to read.

***Letter***

To my loving niece,

I will head to Japan to slumber in the bed of my ancestor. While I leave my sister there for you to take care, I know even as a spirit she won’t leave with me back to Japan because her heart is there in Thailand. I have kept you hidden for so long from the Kongying to keep you strong. I watched you grown from a tadpole into a frog. Live your life jumping from pad to pad. And not afraid if you fall into the water because you know you can swim out of it. Stay true to yourself my little frog princess. I love you and know you’ll make your mother and I proud.

***End of Letter***

Dr. Patchai sat in his car while he read Kob’s aunt’s letter. Kob’s aunt tells him she did love him but didn’t want to put him through a roller coaster of emotions, that’s why she strayed from him to avoid any love. She also pled to let Kob be the one to reveal her own identity. Dr. Patchai almost felt like sobbing, Kob’s aunt was one of his patient which he shouldn’t had but yet fell in love with. Since he laid eyes on her, there were no other women he could love.

Kob: “Taking me to the cemetery was only a distraction.” A person came by and told her the place was sold. When Dr. Patchai enters the flower shop Kob was no where to be found.

Later that day Tik comes by the shop and learn there wasn’t a delivery girl there. He wasn’t informed that the shop was just sold, now own by a mother and his son who deliver flowers. He remembers the girl saying she was a delivery girl, but he suspects her to be a spy for the other magazine company. He didn’t want to be in the eye of the media, so he was keeping on a low profile.

***Kob found herself standing in front of her friend’s apartment with no where to go. She wasn’t sure what to do just yet.***

Kob: “Hey, Popuri.” She says into the intercom. “Where’s your mother?”

Popuri: “Mommy…” Kob could hear her calling. “Mommy, Mommy Kob is here.” Kob was like a second mom to her. The door opens and the little three year old girl with two pony tails, hugs her leg since she wasn’t tall enough to reach her.

Kob: “Ploy…” she sighs as she saw her friend. Ploy takes Kob’s luggage and brought her inside their home. She doesn’t give her friend details on what happen, only that she and her aunt lost the shop. She’s staying with them and will pay for her share of the rent and utility, Ploy didn’t want to take her money but she tells her to set a good role model for Popuri, that you don’t get things for free.

That day Kob went to the Kongying’s Estate. She only stood outside the gates. Even though the house was big and had very wide fields. There was almost an invisible dark cloud above the house. When she thought she had enough look at the residence she was going to leave but was stopped when she saw a man dragging a women toward the gates. The man scolds and is pushed out of the gate onto Kob’s feet. When the women look up and saw it was Kob she trembled. She took part of her scarf and wiped her shoe. ‘I’m so sorry to get dirt on it.’ The man told her to move out of the way for her to come inside. ‘I’ll get a car to take you to the house’ Kob can see it was a long road from the gate to the house. She puts her hand up as though halting him from getting a car over. She forgets herself and enters the residence.

When she gets to the house entrance. The head maid of the house greeted her. She warned Kob that the clothing she was wearing was too ragged up. She takes her into a room to change. The doors of the closet opens and she could swear there was a thousand outfits, shoes, accessory. ‘Pick your oufit and then go to your Grandma Kongying to seek approval.’ She turns back to find out she was talking to no one. Kob had already wondered off. She stood by the door and watches as an elderly wiped her mouth and pushed her soup aside. ‘Get me the chief.’ The new chief thought the lady enjoyed his food and was going to get a compliment. ‘How long have you been cooking?’ ‘Ten years now, ma’am.’ ‘That’s a long time.’ ‘It seem all that education didn’t go to waste’ ‘Oh…thank you ma’am’ ‘Have you thought of cooking for animals’ ‘What do you mean by that, ma’am?’ Grandma Kongying signaled for one of her man to come over. He gives the chief an enveloped. ‘Who am I kidding…even a dog wouldn’t lick this.’ She takes a sip of her wine.

Kob left the area and walked into the second floor where she met up with the head maid again.

Kob: “Excuse me, where is Mr. Kongying’s room?”

Head Maid: “You know Mr. Kongying room is the second to your left.”

Kob: “Thank you.” She walks off. The maid was beginning to think she was acting strange. She fumble with the knob it was closed. She goes to the door to the next room. “Can you open this room?” She doesn’t know why but she was being pulled into it.

Head Maid: “Mr. Kongying wouldn’t want anyone to go in there”

Kob: “Not even his own daughter?” The lady was surprised she acknowledged herself as Mr. Kongying’s daughter when she wouldn’t even call him father.

Head Maid: “Well. You never asked to enter.” She opens the door.

Kob walks inside, she saw the room filled with Japanese things. From valuable vase, handcraft fan, straw mat, lanterns, etc. What impressed her the most was a Koto instrument that was display nicely on a table. She went to it immediately and put her fingers against the strings. Different from the Koto instrument she had, a Sakura, the flower of Japan, was painted on the board. She gently slid her fingers down the strings. Once the string vibrated she heard someone yell over to her, it was Grandma Kongying.

Grandma Kongying: “Didn’t I tell you never to let Suvanant into this room!” She sternly yells at the maid. “You’ve been here long enough, you should know the rules. Or is it you’re craving to be fired.”

Head Maid: “I…” She bowed. “Suvanant wanted me to open the door. No one ever said no to Suvanant.”

Grandma Kongying: “Is it true Suvanant?”

Kob: “Grandma Kongying…” She whispered. “I asked for this door to be open.” She kept her head down.

Grandma Kongying: “What have I said about touching that filthy instrument and this room? Have you learn nothing?”

Head Maid: “Please. It was my fault.” She begged Grandma Kongying. The granny didn’t care, she took her cane and whacks Kob’s hands. Kob felt the event had happen before.

Kob: “Ahh!!!” She didn’t know it was coming. She stands up and pulled her hand into her chest.

Grandma Kongying: “Are you retaliating? Come here.” Sadness fills Kob’s heart that her grandma was truly cruel, she eyes her grandma. “Why do you have green contact lens on today? You know I dislike that eye color.” It makes her wonder if her sister suffer the beating and scolding.

Kob: “I’m sorry Grandma.” She goes to the elderly in a kneeling position as she hugged onto her leg. “I’ll never do this again.” The granny caresses her hair. “Can you remind again why we should be against this?”

She brought up again the discrimination she had against pheasants and especially the disgrace her father and mother brought upon their family name. Her son, marrying a geisha, to her grandma, was the same as having a prostitute for a daughter in law. After Grandma Kongying went for her beauty sleep Kob walks out of the estate. ‘If I didn’t apologize to Grandma Kongying…I had a fear that my sister would suffer the consequence’ That was the only reason why she didn’t ask forgiveness.

***That night. At the Geisha Hotel.***

While Kob fixed the strings to her Koto instrument one of the workers rushed in and tells her one of their customers requested her company and he wanted to see her play in front of him not behind a screen. Two other girls came and carry the Koto first into the guest room, while Kob put on a hot pink headdress over her head, it was almost like a veil hiding her identity, only the eye area was visible to the customers. She always wore a headdress that fit the color of the kimono she wore that day if she wasn’t playing behind a screen.

***When she walks inside she notice it was Tik.***

Kob: “Just treat him like any other customers.” She tells herself as she walk toward her instrument, which was put in the middle of the room without a screen.

Tik: “Why do you hide yourself?” He was laying down on his back and staring at the ceiling. He was curious since Geisha weren’t suppose to hide face from their customers and she was wearing a veil/head dress that Japanese nun usually wears, it was odd to him.

Kob: “To prevent a sorceress from finding me.” Tik sits up, curious. Kob twirls around elegantly then sat down infront of her instrument.

Tik: “What does this sorceress look like?”

Kob: “Wrinkles…short curly gray hair…in a black cape dress…a wood cane.” Her hands were in the air a few inches away from the instrument. Tik can see her finger gracefully flown down onto the instrument. Her hands lay there for a few minutes.

Girl: “Younger, sister. Why don’t you begin.” She handed a cup of tea into Tik’s hand and then starts massaging his arm.

Kob: “I have to force myself…no matter how much it hurts.” Earlier when Grandma Kongying whacked her hand, her knuckles was bruised. Right now her hand was sore. She inhaled a huge breath before plucking the strings and enduring the pain. When she played the instrument she had her eyes close as though in serenity or had fallen into her own world.

Tik: “I can do it myself.” He tells the escort, as he reach for the teapot to refill his empty cup. Kob could hear water being pour down. She opens her eyes and saw the water pouring out of the teapot’s spout and into the cup, her eyes zoom higher to the hands that held the teapot handle and in Tik’s pinky, her ring was on there. She tugs hard on the string and again it unwinds off the nail.

Chapter 3

***At Illusion Magazine company***

Suvanant stayed late trying to finish a design that had been circulating in her mind. She applied a huge amount of pressure on the pencil as she sketches a dress, which caused the lead to break off. Frustrated that she might lose her idea, she takes out an exacto knife and sharpens the pencil. She was so in hurry that she cuts her finger with it.

***At Geisha Hotel***

The string of the Koto slashed Kob’s index finger. A little blood ooze out of the cut on her finger. Kob thinks it’s a sign of punishment because her aunt had told her not to lose the ring, yet she did. Tik got off from where he was sitting and walks toward her.

Tik: “What cause her to despise you?” He kneels beside her.

Kob: “An outsider of different ethnic background.” She turns and looks at him. He could see the beautiful bold aqua green eyes which she posses. Kob’s mother was a mixture of Japanese and Italian. Unlike Suvanant, Kob inherited her mother’s eyes.

Tik: “Next time, play carefully.” He held her hand and wrapped her finger with a small cloth. He looks down on her hand and saw a line, blue green bruise. He placed his lips down, gently on the bruise, he made his assumptions that she had a bad background. “I’ll be leaving now.”

Girl: “But sir, your time isn’t up yet.” He still had half an hour left. “Do you want a refund?” She walks after him.

Tik: “I don’t want a refund. I’m done for the day.”

He needed to keep focus for tomorrow so he didn’t drink much. Kob was still stun how warm and gentle his touch was that she forgets to go after him. When she realized the room was emptied, she hurried out the door, but as she reach outside, the car just drove off.

Chakrit: “You cut yourself?” He went around her desk and puts her finger into his mouth. She was a stun for a few seconds before pulling out her finger and slapping him across the face.

Suvanant: “Disgusting.” She clutches her dress staining it with her blood.

Chakrit: “You rather bleed to death then let me help you?” Suvanant went back to her desk and used her blood to draw the last remaining details of her dress.

Suvanant: “I’m done.” Her dress was no different than the style of a Japanese kimono, other then being loose, she made the dress tighter around a women’s curve, the sleeves draped down, and the waist had a red cloth wrapped around. The designs on the dress were that of sakura flowers.

Chakrit: “You’re being obsess with your work.” He closed her sketchbook so she won’t be tempted with to jolt down ideas. He sits on her desk and rubs his cheek. “It’s the first time you laid your hands on me.” The way she stared at him was like a knife piercing through him. “Will you be willing to go out for a drink?”

Suvanant: “…”

Chakrit: “Ah…” He got off the table and smacked his hands together. “That’s a yes.” She stares at him again. “If you oppose just say it.” He stuck his hand in his pockets.

Suvanant: “You are…”

Chakrit: “…wasting my breath. I heard that one already. Be truthful, there plenty of air to breathe, you are using it as an excuse to get away from me.” He sighs. “I’ll take that as a no then…this is the one hundred fifty two time you reject my invitation.”

Suvanant: “We can never see eye to eye…”

Chakrit: “Really?” He lowered himself so his eye leveled to her’s. He smiles as Suvanant has a staring contest with him. He slid the sketch she drew, folds it behind his back, and stuck it in his pocket. It wasn’t a good sight if she reveal the new sketch tomorrow.

***At the Geisha house***

Kob’s boss was reluctant to give Kob any information about the customer afraid she’ll make them lose their credentials. She quickly demanded her boss or else she would quit. Kob’s boss finally gave in, because most of her regular would be there to listen to Kob play the Koto. Kob is given the address to the hotel Tik was staying in. In the locker room, one of the workers tells her she got the new brown contact lens she asked for early that day, since she lost her previous ones. Kob tried it on, it was a perfect fit.

After Kob changed clothing, she went in search of Tik. At the counter table she asked for Tik Jessadaporn Pholdee, she begun to whimper and said that she was his wife and she suspect him of cheating. So it would be helpful if the girl in the counter would point out where the men was quickly. She tells her Tik had just arrived and is taking a swim in the indoor pool.

Kob walked by the indoor pool area. The glass was clear so the swimmer could see those walking pass. Kob puts her hand up to hide her face as she walked and peeked. She could see one person swimming, Tik. Awhile later, Kob returns, in a maid outfit, she pretends she was collecting the old towel. While in the hallway somewhere else, a maid was wondering where her cart went off to. Kob strolls a cart inside the indoor pool and starts gathering towels from the seats. She squats down behind the cart when Tik asked for her to hand him his towel. She walks backward, got him his towel from the seat and throws it behind her. It plops into the water. Tik puts his arm on the flooring.

Tik: “Could you give me a new one? This time give it to me properly instead of throwing it.”

Kob: “Okay, sir.” She takes a new one, walks backward again until her feet felt the edge of the pool. This time with her face turn away, she kneeled down and extended her arm out. “You’re new towel.”

Tik: “You have been stalking me to leak info about Illusion Magazine, have you?”

Kob: “What are you talking about?” She thinks to herself. She sticks her head out a little bit and saw her ring resting on the handle of the seat Tik was using. Before she could get up, Tik pulls her and she falls into the water. When Kob glide herself to the surface, Tik hovered his arm around her waist and hoist her up.

Tik: “This is shallow water. A few feet from you is deeper waters. Which one do you prefer to drown in?” He threatens her. “Which rival magazine do you work for?”

Kob: “I have no idea what you’re talking about, really.” She coughs the water she had swallowed. She slid her hand behind her back so Tik wouldn’t see her wounded finger and wouldn’t know she was the woman working at the Geisha house.

Tik: “What do you intend on getting, coming here?”

Kob: “You see. I have a friend, she lost her ring. I’m only here to retrieve it.” Tik looks over to the ring he had set on the handle of the seat.

Tik: “How am I suppose to trust you? Before you said you were a flower girl…I went to your so-call shop, they don’t have a flower girl only a flower boy.”

Kob: “Well…we just sold the shop so of course…”

Tik: “Enough of your yapping.” He walks forward and she backs away slipping into the deeper end of the pool. “Another one of your lies?” He lets her suffocate in the water, thinking she was faking it. Kob’s leg cramped so she couldn’t get it to work. Tik realized the true event when Kob stops rumbling in the water and was floating beneath.

***At Illusion Magazine company***

Suvanant: “Have the car ready, I will come down in a three minutes.” She shuts her cellphone off, grabs her jacket and walks around Chakrit. Half way to the door she gasps. Unable to breathe, she leans on the sofa in her office.

Chakrit: “Did I really wasted your breath?” He turns to see that it was serious. He aids her down on the sofa. He calls Dr. Patchai.

***Hotel***

Tik: “Are you alright?” He had already lifted her onto the floor and was gently slapping her face. He proceeded CPR on her but instead, she spat water into his face. She was still unconscious so he called an ambulance.

***Hospital***

Tik who was in his casual wear, Chakrit who was in a business suit were walking back and forth anticipating and worrying about the women they brought in. They were unaware of each other’s identity.

Kob woke up inside a big private room, the lights were dim. Above her she saw Dr. Patchai who was shinning a light into her eyes. Dr. Patchai helps her sit up and leaned on a pillow.

Kob: “What is going on here?”

Dr. Patchai: “I have a surprise for you.”

Kob: “Surprise? For what occasion?”

Dr. Patchai: “Reunion.” He slid across the curtain that was by her side. Her eyes widen as she saw a mirror image of herself sleeping in the bed next to her.” He tells her everything she needed to know about her family.

Grandma Kongying – She was a grouchy and judgmental old lady. She gets what she wants and gets away with it. She taught Kob’s older sister, Suvanant, to be egotistical to the point where she would rank people and consider if they were worth talking to. Grandma Kongying would badmouth the shame her mother brought into the Kongying’s household making Suvanant hate her mother and her father. Since Suvanant was a child, she was brainwash by Grandma Kongying and turned into a well-structure woman fit for the proud high-society.

Suvanant - She knew how to emotionally hurt people without making a scene. She’ll come when she wants, she’ll go when ready. Suvanant, rush for no one, everyone will have to wait for her, she was a precious jewel to Grandma Kongying one which she polish everyday to make sure she was perfect. She made a name for herself as the head fashion designer in “Illusion Magazine” (A clothing magazine) owned by Mr. Kongying and Mr. Pholdee. She was Kob’s identical twin.

Mr. Kongying – He is a loving father, he would try to teach Suvanant lessons not to put people down and to appreciate the lower society, but Suvanant would tell him he was a failure, he showed weakness and let people take advantage of him. Father and daughter never got along.

Chakrit Yamnam (The man who brought Suvanant in) – Head chief of ‘Illusion Magazine’ his position was only temporary until Pholdee’s son, Tik, came back from Japan. He has a crush on Suvanant since they were in college. He doesn’t mind having to be humiliated and put down by her.

Kob: “What’s wrong with her?

Dr. Patchai: “Chakrit said she seem like she couldn’t breath.”

Kob: “Does that have something to do with me because I drowned.”

Dr. Patchai: “The connection between the mind of twins is a medical mystery. Sometimes they suffered together, almost as though sharing the same brain. It’s something we can’t explain.” Kob thinks back to when she was a child. Now she understands why she had nightmares of the cane always whacking her. It was because Suvanant was hurting. “You two had a cut on the same finger.” Kob lifts up her finger and then look over to her older sister’s finger. “She overwork herself, the usual. She is obsess with her work.” He shakes his head.

Kob: “You said our father was a loving man. How come he couldn’t protect my sister from being emotional and physically abused?”

Dr. Patchai: “Some people have too much respect for their elders…to the point where…they don’t think they have the rights to intervene in the elders choice to discipline a child.”

Kob: “To smack the knowledge of the child’s background out of her mind, that is discipline?”

Dr. Patchai: “All your father knows is when he comes home, Suvanant would do something wrong, he couldn’t get into details because your grandma would make up an excuse.”

Kob: “And my sister, why didn’t she say anything?”

Dr. Patchai: “What can she say when she was made to believe, Grandma Kongying is always correct?”

Kob: “You…You know so much and you did nothing.”

Dr. Patchai: “I am only an outsider. There are many things I see that I must keep to myself.”

Kob: “Because of your own personal gain, is that correct?” She gets off the bed although Dr. Patchai tells her not to. He was the Kongying’s personal doctor and he was afraid of losing his job. “I understand. I saw how afraid a person is when faced against Grandma Kongying. The fear just to lose a job because of a little mistake, making you feel like the years you took to learn something was wasteful. She can tear down a person’s confidence, just in seconds.”

Dr. Patchai: “You met her already?”

Kob: “Yes. I went to the Kongying’s estate today and they mistaken me for Suvanant.” She slid out the ivy needle in her arm. “I still don’t understand, why you want me in the Kongying’s life when you know they will torture me.”

Dr. Patchai: “Because…I know your aunt had built you as strong as steel, you know who you are and she, your grandmother, cannot modify your mind like she did to Suvanant. You are the savior to the Kongyings.” She looks back at her sister one last time before barging out of the room.

Kob haste down a hallway in a hospital uniform without shoes. She stops half way down the hallway. “If I leave, I’m letting down my aunt, what she been through to raise me for this day will be worth nothing.” She lift her hand up and gazed down at her bruised hand, which was already wrapped with net bandage. Chakrit’s voice interrupts her thoughts.

Chakrit: “Already up and running?” He stands a few inches from her. “Dr. Patchai told me not to bother you but I had to see how you were doing.”

Kob: “Chakrit…a man who has a crush on Suvanant?” She thinks to herself. “I met him before in the company ‘Illusion Magazine’ company. He mistaken me again.”

Chakrit: “I shouldn’t had entered your office.”

Kob: “What did I tell you before?” She wanted to know how her sister acted when with Chakrit.

Chakrit: “Talking to me, makes you waste your breath.”

Kob: “Why don’t you obey the rules?”

Chakrit: “Because I like you.”

Kob: “Ha…” She chuckles.

Chakrit: “What is so funny?”

Kob: “This person likes my sister, but can’t even tell the difference.” She mutters.

Chakrit: “Did you know? You worried me there for a bit…”

Kob: “Why do I detest you so much?”

Chakrit: “Why do you ask?”

Kob: “I want to know.” He paced at her cornering her to the wall. She gulped, a bit regretful she asked. He was hesitant but managed to take hold of her hand, the non-bruise hand. He lifts it up and overlaps it with his other hand.

Chakrit: “You only want me to repeat those reasons, so I could be reminded of how distant we are….” He tighter his hold on her hand. “When compare to a baseball game…I will never get to first base, second base, third base, nor home. I will always remain an outsider, a person who stands behind the gates, and watches as the game to your heart plays out. I am only a cousin to the Pholdee, a lap dog to them. To you, when I talk, only barking noise comes out of my mouth. The sweat I drain out just to get notice, such a wasteful act. My paws which is holding you hand right now is soiled, because of all of the running and errands I ran for the Pholdee. It’ll take you millions of years to get this filth off.”

Kob: “Why don’t you give up?”

Chakrit: “Because within all those humiliating and torturous words…Suvanant…you never actually told me to leave you. Until I hear those words, I’ll stop being an eyesore.”

Tik walks down a hallway, a few feet away from him he saw a men and women appear to be having an intimate time together. He ignores it and turns to the hallway to his right. He looks at the number written on the door to see if he got the correct room, he had to charm his way just to get the nurse to give him the location. He enters the room and walks pass an empty bed then to the second bed where the women he let drown was resting.

Chapter 4

Tik: “I can’t leave without knowing her name.” He was going to put his hand on her shoulder and shake her to wake her up but he didn’t want to be rude. Suvanant opens her eyes and blinks a few times.

She fixed herself into a sitting position. She slid her fingers through her hair to fix it. Tik sees the bandage on her finger and remembers the Koto instrumental player at the Geisha house. However her knuckles weren’t bruised.

Tik: “It must just be a coincidence.” But he was doubtful of himself. He didn’t pay attention to her eyes before so now he was trying to check it out, but she had her head turn opposite of him. She looks at her watch, realizing it was late, she flips the blanket off of her. She rush to the sofa next to her and yanks the folded blankets off, she can’t find her clothing.

Suvanant: “Get me Dr. Patchai, right now.” She demanded. Thinking Tik was a nurse. When she search around she final realized something, she turns around and observed Tik, he wasn’t wearing a nurse uniform. “Introduction.”

Tik: “I bumped into you first, I should be the one who gets to know your name.”

Suvanant: “Name and status.” She grows impatient.

Tik: “You speak very highly of yourself, unlike before…is this how you treat your customers when you’re not working at the Geisha Hotel?”

Suvanant: “Don’t use that word in front of me.”

Tik: “Which words?”

Suvanant: “I will not repeat.” She looks over his should but sees no one else other her and the strange man. She reached out to press a button near the bed to inform the nurse.

Tik: “Geisha?” It got her to stop what she was going to do. “Is that the word you don’t want to hear?”

Suvanant: “If I hear that word again…”

Tik: “You don’t want your customers trailing your whereabouts. I understand.”

Suvanant: “You’re talking nonsense. Check yourself in the lost and found department, you look like a lost puppy.” As she walks around him he cups her face and lifts it up to his.

Tik: “Your eyes are brown.” He was surprise, a moment ago he was so sure. Suvanant struggle to get his hands off her face because she was tip toeing just to reach him. “You must have contact lens on…”

Suvanant: “This is my real eye color…let me go.”

Tik: “Release you?” He loosened his grip and she slides down onto the floor. She stares at him with angry eyes full of rage.

Suvanant: “I’ll make sure your hands get chopped off.”

Tik: “How are you going to do that? Are you related to the Yaguza (Japanese Mafia Clan), little geisha.”

Suvanant: “I told you I didn’t want to hear that word.” She points at him with her wounded finger. He gently took hold of her hand.

***In the hallway***

Chakrit took a little bottle out of his pocket and spill some liquid into Kob’s palm. It was hand sanitizer. He rubs her hand against his, spreading the liquid all around her palm.

Chakrit: “Can you make the excuse now that you don’t want my hands on yours because I have germs?”

Kob: “Do you always carry it with you?” She gave out a little crooked smile, tries to hide it but Chakrit caught her.

Chakrit: “Is it funny?”

Kob: “It’s cute.” She was shying away. She quickly gets a grip of herself and act serious and tough. She yanks her hand away.

***Inside the hospital room***

Tik: “Why don’t you tug back your hand?”

Suvanant: “I’ll be inferior to you if I did that?”

Tik: “Oh… the master commands and the pet replies, you’ll be inferior because you would be doing what I want you to do. I see….” He puts a finger on his lips and thinks out loud. “What is a proud rich brat doing in a Geisha house anyway?” He had seen many of her kind before, comparing themselves as highly being because of the money they have and looking down at the working class like they were rats in the sewer. Suvanant sway her hand at him because he said the word ‘Geisha’ again. She rejected words or anything related to Japanese. She stops half way from striking Tik because she noticed he was anticipating for the blow.

Suvanant: “I’m not going to give you want you want.”

***In the hallway***

Kob’s hand suddenly slaps Chakrit across the face.

Kob: “Oh my god…I’m so sorry…I don’t know what happen” She could see the pink mark she left on his cheek. “It must be painful.” She pulls down his hand that was rubbing his cheek and studies it.

Chakrit: “Suvanant?”

Kob: “What?”

Chakrit: “You’re holding my hand.”

Kob: “Oh…” She lets go of his hand, knowing that the real Suvanant wouldn’t get near him.

Chakrit: “Suvanant?”

Kob: “What now?”

Chakrit: “Um…” His face scrunched in discomfort. “Your feet…”

Kob: “Ah…” She didn’t realized she has step onto his feet, although he was wearing steel toe shoe and she was bare footed, he could feel a little pain.

Chakrit: “Earlier…did you just apologize?”

Kob: “If a person does something wrong, they apologize. It’s a humane thing to do.”

Chakrit: “Suvanant doesn’t do anything wrong…” He took a step closer to her. “…therefore Suvanant doesn’t need to apologize.” Kob’s eyes widen as he lean in, his face inches from her. She breathed heavily. “Are you sick?” He puts his palm against her forehead. She was concern that he found her out, but now relief. “Your temperature doesn’t seem to be out of the ordinary.”

Kob: “What is this?” When press her palm against his chest to further his distant she heard a crunch noise.

Chakrit: “It’s nothing.” He tries to hide it.

Kob: “I demand you to give it to me.” Chakrit took a big sigh before taking about a folded piece of paper. She unraveled and saw a beautiful modern geisha gown. However, the red smears of the floral design somewhat scares her. “Is this blood?”

Chakrit: “Do you not remember sketching it? Maybe you were posses during that time” He scratches his head trying to think of a reason why she forget.

Kob: “Ahaha…I was posses with ideas…actually very obsess with my work.”

Chakrit: “Yes…very obsess, you rush to sharpen a pencil with a exacto knife and cuts yourself in the process, not enough, you wanted to finish the sketch and use your blood as a pencil.”

Kob: “Sometimes I get a little carry away with my creativity.” She gave a half-willing giggle.

Chakrit: “I like it when you smile.”

***Inside the hospital room***

After no luck finding Kob, Dr. Patchai returns to the room with one of his nurse. He sees Suvanant on the floor and a guy kneeling before her. He could see the man holding Suvanant’s hand.

Dr. Patchai: “Is everything alright here?”

Suvanant: “Dr. Patchai, I would like to know, what you think is going on here?”

Dr. Patchai: “That man is…harassing you.”

Suvanant: “If you could see that, why don’t you get him off of me and out of this room!” She said in an agitated and haste tone. Tik puts down her hand and gets up to greet the doctor.

Tik: “I’m the man who brought in the woman who drowned.”

Dr. Patchai: “Oh…her…” His eyes widened. “Can I ask for you name?”

Tik: “Tik Jessadaporn.” He only reveals his nickname and real name, he was concealing his last name.

Dr. Patchai: “Where have I heard that name before?” He snaps his finger. “Tik Jessadaporn PHOLDEE…am I correct?”

Tik: “How did you know?”

Dr. Patchai: “I work for Suvanant’s father, Mr. Kongying. Um…Mr. Kongying is a friend of your father, one who owns half of ‘Illusion Magazine,’ do you see the connection.”

Tik: “Hmm…so this woman here is…” He leans down put his arm around Suvanant waist and lift her to her feet. “…the lovely Suvanant Kongying.”

Dr. Patchai: “So you seen her?”

Tik: “The women who is partially responsible for the uprising and popularity of ‘Illusion Magazine,’ I’ve heard and read articles about her. However…only on the third time I’ve seen her that I’ve actually learn her name.”

Suvanant: “Ridiculous. Dr. Patchai, this is the first time I’ve seen this man.”

Dr. Patchai: “Shoot…that means the person whom he met on the first and second event was Kob. He hasn’t revealed to the Kongying’s yet and surely doesn’t want them to find out this way. He was also keeping Kob’s aunt’s words in mind that to let Kob reveal herself to the world.

Suvanant: “This man is obviously crazy nah.”

Dr. Patchai: “Alright Suvanant, I’ll take care of this.” He leads Tik toward the door. “The reason why she’s acting up is caused by the after effect of the shot I gave her earlier to sedate her. Don’t worry.”

When he opens the door and looks to his right, he sees Kob walking toward them. He pushed Tik back into the room. Kob had convinced Chakrit to leave home and she’ll go home with Dr. Patchai. Suvanant didn’t take time to scold them for coming back in. The doctor asked the nurse to get Suvanant’s clothing out of the drawer. The nurse hands it to Suvanant and she heads into the bathroom to change. He peeks out of the door and saw that Kob was still far from reaching them so he pretends to walk out with Tik the opposite direction, so they have their back turn to Kob. After a few feet away Tik tells Dr. Patchai, he forgot something.

Tik: “Weren’t you going to change?” He stands by Kob who was taking time to think whether or not she should enter the room. They both gazed at each other as they stood by the door. Tik shakes his head in confusion that the women now has a bandage wrapped around her knuckles, he thinks his mind was playing tricks on him that’s why he didn’t see it earlier.

Kob: “It’s you again. You know I could have died in that pool. And all you did was watch.”

Tik: “Now you remember. Well, it seems you knew how to swim.”

Kob: “Of course I do, but my leg was cramped. Can a person swim with two arms and one leg?”

Tik: “Yes. I’ve seen one in the Olympics.”

Kob: “Well…I’m not one of those people. I need two legs and two arms to swim…just like a frog.” Tik chuckles.

Tik: “Alright, Kobby.” (Kob in the thai language meant frog).

***Inside***

Suvanant came out of the wash room fixing the belt around her waist when she heard voices outside the door, they were noisy to her ear and she was going to confront them.

***Outside***

Dr. Patchai: “What was that you forget?” Kob can see he was sweating and looked anxious.

***Inside***

As Suvanant’s hand reach for the knob the nurse notify her that her phone was vibrating. She had a call and on the other line it was Grandma Kongying. She tells her she fainted at work, it only causes Grandma Kongying to pressure her more on taking pills so she can stay awake. She’ll have to get Dr. Patchai to prescribe her the medication.

***Outside***

Tik: “Oh. This…” He slid off the ring from his pinky. He lifts Kob’s hand up and slid the ring into her finger. Dr. Patchai was a bit shocked because the ring was slid into her marriage finger. Half way sliding it in he slides it out again.

Kob: “Hey…”

Tik: “You said you came to get the ring for your friend right? Tell her, I’ll give back only when she herself comes to retrieve it.” He slide the ring into his pinky again. “I will catch you…(meaning he’ll prove she was the Koto instrumental player at the Geisha House).” He winks at her. “Take care…Ms. Suvanant.” He leaves.

Kob: “Did he just call me Suvanant?”

Dr. Patchai: “Yeah he did. Now lets get going.” He takes her to his office.

***In Dr. Patchai office***

Kob: “Who does he think he is? Making things so difficult for me.”

Dr. Patchai: “Tik Jessadaporn Pholdee, the only son to the Pholdee and will soon hold position in ‘Illusion Magazine.’ He just came back from Japan. There will be a small conference a few days from now, officially revealing the position of Tik, Chakrit, and Suvanant. Tik and Suvanant would be the co-owner of ‘Illusion Magazine’ in place of their fathers. While Chakrit will be vice-president below them. Tik will take care of the models and photo section, while Suvanant took care of the clothing designs section, but pretty much they will have to go through each other before a project is final.”

Kob: “I met Chakrit…” She said excitedly. “Two times now, he mistaken me for Suvanant.”

Dr. Patchai: “Did he notice the difference.”

Kob: “At first I might had made it obvious. But I don’t think so…He’s a charming guy.”

Dr. Patchai: “Don’t act nice to him. If he was to find out he was lead on by Kob and not Suvanant, he’ll be heart broken, more like devastated.”

Kob: “I know. I was trying not to be nice to him, but it’s hard to hate him.” She stops day dreaming and gets serious. “Dr. Patchai, will you be able to free your hands tomorrow morning?”

Dr. Patchai: “Of course. Why won’t you tell me where your staying, is it because you don’t trust me?”

Kob: “No…I’m just still enjoying the freedom I have left, I don’t want to be tied down just yet.” She sits in the chair and began to think to herself. “Tik thinks I am Suvanant, thinks Suvanant is the Koto instrumental player. I should be careful from now on…” Her aunt always told her to be cautious and didn’t want her face to reveal to the Geisha Hotel customers afraid they’ll stalk her, but now she understood the real reason behind it, she was afraid people would mistaken her identity with Suvanant.
