i freed another turtle in my pond today along with my first one in the lake behind my house, hopefully it sticks around for me to visit. i wish i could have afforded a bird to free. but it's way ironic, if ppl have never captured these creatures to begin with, they would be free already, n we wouldn't have to free them *sigh* i'm beginning to question the principles behind this :) that's been my festivity so far....hahhaha... i wish there was more i can participate in.

nonetheless...Souk san van bi mai, meur mai fah mai. may u find all u need in life to obtain contentment. :)

share the love, if u got good food, send it ova. :D

Soukkhee Pimai - Khamla Norkeo
By Vannasone Keodara
20/04/2008

Happy Lao New Year! Soukkhee Pimai, a Lao new year song of Khamla Norkeo was requested by a listener of Laos, PDR. Lately there has been many letters and emails requested songs from VOA-Music program, we are trying very hard to please our audiences. We thank you and do keep it coming. The second song is dedicated to Hmong refugees of Houi Namkhao, Thailand - "Kid Teung Muang Laos" or "Missing Home" of the New Moon. The final song "Sophie" is still remaining a popular song among Lao listeners. So far there are so many requests for this song. This time around, Sophie is sung by female vocalist, Kaysone Vongdara.

Hope you all enjoy these songs. Happy Lao New Year and do come back and visit us again.

I know that Wat Lao (Tai Neua) in Cherry Valley, Illinois is doing a huge celebration similar to the celebration in Laos/Thailand/Yunnan province on the 13th of April 2007. There will be chanting/praying in the morning, parade, hoot nam (water splashing), beauty peagant, then lum vong all night long. I don't know where I put my invitation card that have all of the schedule.

Heck, no! I missed it!!

I live in Chicago and I don't find a lot of Laos people here. I end up spending a lot of my time with Americans, Czech, Polish, Bulgarians,e tc.

I miss my sticky rice and tum mahoong (sp?).
