I use photoshop 7 on all my works. I've tried getting around other ps but not liking it much LOl ..
probably i'm so use to 7 . Anyway, to help you out a bit, to get transparent, you just need to save it as PNG under
FILE+SAVE TARGET AS WEBPAGE+CLICK ON SCROLL BOX BELOW THE SAVE/CANCEL button+SELECT PNG-24 to get the best resolution. Hope this help.

*IMPORTANT NOTE -- take the BACKGROUND picture on your design off before you save it as PNG. Usually is the first layer.
