We filmed Scene 20 today around 5pm. All the actors were on time and everything went smoothly. Kenny and Diana did well with acting. Notice in the pictures that the windows have the illusion of day time when it was actually dark as night outside already.

Scene 20: Bambi's bedroom

< Tou napping

< Tou and Bambi

< An upset Bambi

the latest update....

Last weekend (February 4 and 5) we finished shooting the finals shots on Mai's living room set. Before we tore down the set, Team Chow Fa made a short "destruction" movie involving the destruction of a home. It was a great time seeing the whole team together after a half month hiatis because of unexpected delays on the project.

Today Ly Vashoua Thao (with John Moua and Meng Yang from Watching Leona) rehersed at the CHAT studio on their Tou and Mai song. I can say that for most first generation Hmong Americans, it is a small challenge trying to sing in Hmong, since the movie soundtrack requirement is that songs be in Hmong only. The Ly Vashoua's song sounds awsome and her voice is so breath taking. I know that the band Watching Leona themselves has a couple Hmong songs ready to be submitted. Shattered Echo'Z and The Rice Channel bands have been working on their songs as well.

I will be moving to Sacramento, California (from St. Paul, MN) at the end of March with another Team Chow Fa member. We will be living there. By then, all film production will be due. The rest will be up to Kang's editing and the reast of Team Chow Fa to promote the film. I will still be involved on the movie project; designing visual promotion, booking shows in California, and so forth. I WILL be back for the premier and help Kang on the Tou and Mai tour. It is a big project that has been on our hands for almost a year now, and you have to follow it through with the best of your abilities.

Kang has showed me a few of the scenes that he has been done editing with. It is hilarious. It's so surreal that this dream of ours is taking form so fast. Kenny Lee, our sound producer (who also stars in the movie as "Tou"), has done some sound designs for the scenes and we are are looking forward to viewing them. Kangs says that we are about 80-90 percent done with filming. All we have left are short scenes and short transactions. The film will be done and released on time.

Thank you for those who have stood by us and helped us carried our dreams.

it's not just this movie that have rated r scene. i've seen many other hmong movie that have r scene in it. some of those are xu siab but some are just regular like any other ethnic. but i still enjoy the r scene just like thai, chinese, and hindi.
