TV dramas must stop justifying rape

OK, I'M NOT GOING TO WRITE A NOVEL LIKE I USUALLY DO...ESPECIALLY WHEN IT DEALS WITH ONE MY FAVORITE TOPICS IN THE WHOLE WORLD...R-SCENES. LMAO

MANY OF MY BEAUTIFUL SARNIES WITH BRAINS HAVE ALREADY JUSTIFIED ENOUGH ABOUT THE REALITIES OF CERTAIN "THINGS" SO IT WOULD JUST BE A WASTE OF TIME FOR ME TO PARAPHRASE THE SAME THINKING. P.S. THANK YOU TO ALL YOU LOVELY DEARS FOR HELPING ME SAVE MY BREATH.

BUT FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE HAVING A TOUGH TIME COMPREHENDING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REALITY AND IMPRACTICALITY, HERE'S ANOTHER ICING ON THE CAKE.

LAKORNS/DRAMAS DO NOT RAISE PEOPLE. PEOPLE RAISE PEOPLE. IT'S A NO BRAINER. THE ISSUE HERE IS NOT PREVENTION. IT'S INTERVENTION.

PARENTS, IF YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR KIDS WATCHIN' CERTAIN THINGS, BLOCK THAT SHIZNIT. ULTIMATELY, YOU MIGHT FIND THAT THEY LOVE YOU MORE BECAUSE YOU CARED ENOUGH TO PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THEY WATCH. AND OH NO, I'M NOT ASKING YOU TO SPEND TIME WITH THEM. JUST PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THEY WATCH. IS THAT ASKING TOO MUCH?

AS FOR U PEOPLE WHO STILL REFUSE TO OPEN UR MINDS TO WHAT'S REAL AND NOT SO REAL, GO BACK AND BLAME YOUR MOMMA AND DADDY FOR NOT RAISING YOU RIGHT. YOU CAN'T BLAME FAKE CHARACTER #1 ONE FOR DOING SOMETHING TO FAKE CHARACTER #2 BECAUSE U WANTED TO LIMIT A CERTAIN MOMENT OF AN ENTIRE STORY TO JUST THAT MOMENT.

TRY PUTTING THE PIECES TOGETHER. THERE'S A LOT MORE MEANING BETWEEN THE LINES OF WHAT I SAY, JUST LIKE HOW THERE'S MORE MEANING BEYOND A SCENE. IF YOU CAN SUSTAIN WHY R-SCENES...AND YES, I SAID "SCENES" AGAIN, NOT R-REALITY...ARE NOT THE CAUSE OF IMMORAL ACTS, YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THAT THE WORLD IS NOT WHAT YOU TAKE OF IT. IT'S WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT.

I'M NOT EVEN SURE IF THAT LAST SENTENCE MADE SENSE TO ANYONE ELSE BUT BOTTOM LINE IS, BACK THE HELL OFF OF MY R-SCENES!! HAHAHAHA

...BTW, I'M NOT YELLING AT ANYONE. HAHA!!

PEACE TO OPINIONS!!!

Well. You can't really tell them that. B/c none of those ppl are even here debating. It's more like there are ppl acknowleding the fact that there are ppl who can't tell the difference btwn reality and fiction. And the question of whether they can or cannot blame the media for their actions is not even important. It's the fact that they do justify/blame (do they even?) their actions on that drama (& fictinal character ?(as u say)).

Anyway. None of these have been statically proven. So I doubt they'll get rid of R scenes anytime soon. I would say we can all calm down b/c our convos won't really change anything... but this is just so entertaining.

And yes. This does get juicier by the day.

those who can't justify what's real and what's not shouldn't be watching lakorns. if there are lots of young childrens out there who watches lakorns & see a rape scene & think that it's okay, i say blame the parents because parents should always be monitoring what their children are watching. just like parents hould monitor what music children listen to. & the whole myspace/facebook and online dating. parents should be aware & kids, specially teens, i think should be able to know the difference between what's real & not. i mean, not everybody does, but i know for a fact that i know that rape in real life is wrong but in a lakorn, it's all for entertainment and it adds spice to the lakorn. i wouldn't go out into the real world & hope for a guy to rape me & we would magically fall in love, that's just plain stupid.

rape in lakorns is all fiction.. people write these scripts and actress/actors star in lakorn.

You tell`em p'thoookie.
Bleh as for this subject all I have to say or ask or whatever is why not eliminate all movies and dramas?
In American movies you see people doing dumb stuff all the time and sometimes it's even more violent than a thai drama and yet people are still able to watch them? Then they say "well thats cause we could tell thats fake."
And you can't tell a thai drama is fake? In Some American Movies They Promote Gang Violence and Etc.. I don't see everyone going out there and joining gangs... actually there are those very few people with some insecurity issues....

I think for the most part .. everything will always be a debate... just like this subject of R scenes.... If you don't like it or can't stand watching it.. then don't watch it... Like I dind't like Sawan Biang and how many R scenes they had so I quit watching it.. I don't go out there trying to stop others from watching because it's my understanding that they know better than to practice what they watch.. and if they don't.. that's not really my problem is it?

On a serious note tho. I understand the author. There's a difference in lakorns. B/c bellieve it or not, in lakorns pra aek and nang aek hasve higher images than actors and actresses in American movies. And the reason why rape in lakorns is worser than crimes in movies, is b/c the RAPE is actualy being romanticized and justified by the PROTAGONIST. PROTAGONIST. <-- And then those PTOTAGONISTS are on the covers od magazines, etc. When other crimes are done in other movies, I doubt they receive the same recognitition.

And again. B/c I still stand my neutral ground. I do <3 R scenes. But I think it's selfish to conclude this issue solely on my own knowledge, needs, awareness, whatever, blahhh

The only reason why I'm even here debating (am I?) is b/c I like spoil everyone's liddo world (---ooopps----). What I mean. There will always be ppl who disagree w/ you. And sometimes, it might even appear to verge on the extreme. Ridiculousness. (Like this one. I agree to a certain xtent). But you don't go out and shove it and use a bunch of defensive rhetoric. It gives me a naive impression.

I just woke up. :loool:

Yes, they are not here to "justify." that's why i have to cut them off before they say something stupid. lmao in addition, you made my point exactly...it's not "whether they can or cannot blame the media for their actions...it's the fact that they DO justify/blame..."

people make excuses for EVERYTHING. I do that, "she" does that, "he" does that, and i'm pretty sure you've done that (at some point in your life, if not more than once). the difference is that some of us see it as an 'excuse,' some of us see as 'explanation,' and some see it as 'reasoning' and 'justification.' in the end, the "excuses" we make are all verses of how we see the world. they will be different from each other and will be labeled distinctly from one person to the next. to completely deny a chance to choose is bias, selfish, and even hypocritical...though it may seem otherwise (due to the topic). that's why we have to make ourselves search...search for what the true core of the issue is.

and yes, you're right again, it's not a perfect world. but you kind of contradict the idea of this topic in itself. here, you have people who think they can make a 'perfect' world by shutting down a false depiction of what they feel is a disruption of the quest for the 'perfect' world. i'm pretty sure that everyone here is aware that we do not live in a perfect world. dramas, in a sense supplements the hopes and dreams we have for making of a pretty decent world (IN OUR HEADS). it is not necessarily that we believe it. it is that we "fantasize" it...the outcome...the happiness....and whatever else that meets the higher satisfaction we so yearn for.

just like how you state that "in lakorns, pra aek and nang aek have higher images than actors and actresses in American movies," we also have higher expectations of miracle outcomes...like the possibility of happiness in the end...not necessarily of how they should act just because of the status they sustain in a role. if we did that, it would be called stereotyping. that's like saying, if you are rich and powerful, you are automatically perfect with the perfect conduct and demeanor. let me tell you something. the worse people in the world are the people who have the means to "do things". one should have already known it was going to be extreme in action AND OUTCOME. this should have been obvious since the introduction of characters...without even introducing the story yet.

dreaming and fantasizing a perfect outcome of happiness is still, in the end, wishful thinking. whether it happens or not, is another story. and i know that you were trying to make a different point with the higher images comment, but you should have already known to stop right there, because you simply just can't justify for what is not real. that's what everyone here is trying to put across.

no matter how much someone wants to blame the media, it's still their momma and daddy's fault for not raising them right. lmao

P.S. PEACE TO THE WORLD!! HAHAHAHA....

You've made my pt also. It's the fact that they do. And it's the fact that the "they" is the ppl who we described as not knowing the difference btwn reality and fiction. I'm not referring to the they regarding those who know the difference. That's why I put a question mark b/c I'm not sure if we're referring to the same exact thing.

And I think I prob gav out a wrong impression on my argument. I never said they should shut out and prevent the issue. I just like to disrupt the idea that ppl consider taking this issue seriously, ridiculous. Anyway. I'm sorry. I'm going to have to make my comment short. And this is gonna be hard to believe. But I never blame my mistake b/c other ppl. :loool: Umm. LOL. okay.

^^ I have to laugh at that one again.

And again. If my position is not clear. I'll state it again. I'm neither for or against this. The reason why everyone else disagree is b/c we all have diff mindsets right now. It's the individual vs. society. If you're not in public policy, then you wouldn't be think about these issues from a very broad perspective. YOU'RE not responsible for the policies that are made. B/c it's true. [I consider myself a very independent person.] [So]If something goes wrong. You blame yourself. [Or your parents like you mentioned] But again. It goes to that issue again. We make society. Society makes us. What if you just happen to be an elected official who has to confront this issue from an unbiased p.o.v Then you'd have to take into account "the principle of legal and extreme paternalism." You can't just go. Oh. Ppl have common sense, the're responsoble for their own actions. That's why we have gov. And gee. That's why we all hate politics. B/c it's so boring and ridiculous sometimes.

As background, there is absolutely no sex scenes involved, a slap and a violent shove to a bed is all there is of the actual depiction of rape. Even if it is for entertainment purpose, rape is rape and it is wrong. Sure there are rape storylines in the West and other country, but there is no way that a romantic lead could ever get away it. Nowadays, even the novel writers have to learn how to keep their anger down when the directors and the TV case writers have RUINED their novels by constantly adding RAPES and Sexual harassments and abuses [you know those force kiss and slap]. I would be mad myself; a good novel should not be filmed if the director/producer/screenwriter [whoever does it] adds those scenes to it when in the novel there is no such scene.

And the other side of my argument:
Yes I watch lakorn with r scenes, but does that make me a bad person; I turn out good, at least that is what I think, I don’t think television influence any one, with or without the influence, there are still rapist, theft, prostitutes, drug dealer, etc out in the real world. It is now getting overwhelming with all the lakorns with rape scenes recently.

And those who argue about kids/parent, you were one before, you still do the opposite of what your parents wants you to do at least once in your life cause if you said you never rebel before then it is all a lie.

SB and JLR sure made history. I just got to input that again.

Hahaha it should be spicier not juicier. LMAO!

AMEN TO THAT! ULTIMATELY, IT IS UP TO THE INDIVIDUAL! IF THE PARENT HAS A TOUGH ENOUGH TIME INFLUENCING THEIR D*MN KIDS, WHAT IS IT WITH A LAKORN?? MORE THAN ANYTHING, IT IS THE THINGS/PEOPLE THAT ARE CLOSE TO YOU THAT BURDENS UR MAKING AS A CHARACTER.

OMG. I called nong gino, JUNO?!!? O_O

AMEN TO YOU TOO!! Ultimately, it comes down to the person. you're right. I couldn't agree anymore. my point with the "momma and daddy" thing was not directly to say that your mother and father are the ones to whom you must and will listen to, nor are they the ones who must take the fall for your misconduct. it was a subliminal address for people to look within themselves and see what really influences their actions. is it those who matter or those who don't? all your decision to be and see comes from closer to you, including yourself.

and yes, i know u are neutral on this topic. i'm sorry for using you to set a tone for the idiots, but anyone who wants to take away my r-scenes are still idiots, no matter what their reasons are. elected officials, in itself, are the substance of what society makes it also. we're beyond society now. it has taken a full 180 turn back to the individual.

OH GAWD, that NONG GINO!!! i could eat that child up 'cuz he's so cute! hahaha

i get annoyed by rape scenes because the pra'eak is never seen as a rapist. "oh, he does that because he loves her," and "he does that because he's jealous" crap doesn't justify rape. sure, it's fiction. but what does that say about women's rights in the society? a good girl (nang eak) could only lose her virginity through rape or else she's "a bad girl." so "good women" are not supposed to have sexual desire? bullcrap. also, rape is never about love. it's about power.

just an example, if a fictional character is raped in an American movie/TV series, she is a victim, and her rapist is a bad guy, not a pra eak. she doesn't fall in love with her rapist either.

what i don't get about Thai society is that, in TV series, the nang eak can get raped by the pra eak, and it's not a bad thing. but in reality, most women are still ashamed to report to the police that they got raped.

i don't think young men who watch Thai lakon would automatically believe that rape is ok. they learn from their parents and in school about what's legal, what's illegal, and what's immoral. when men rape, it's not because they think it's okay like in the lakon. as i mentioned earlier, rape is about control and power.

i don't find it entertaining to see a woman get raped. even if it's a work of fiction. even if the pra eak is rich and handsome.

for those who find it entertaining, whatever floats ur boat.

Thookatha. I don;t know you. But I like the tone of your rhetoric. .. umm but I'm gonna have to disagree with your logic again. It's true. The individual is the most important factor in what a person chooses to do. But I'll stress it again. As a society, I think part of whatever goes on, is part our responsibility as a whole. So you say that it goes back to the individual. True. But I say it keeps gong back and forth. It doesn't stop.

lmao. And you mentioning some ppl idiots just reinforced why I'm here blabbing to begin with. I like to consider that everyone's arguments are legitimate. Yeah... I just like to defend the minority that's all. Even tho you're calling them idiots was just meant to be funny.
