Though not the original intention, this will probably cause a fan war. Since the Thai classic Koo Gam has been embedded in most of our hearts for years now, I just wanted to hear some opinions on this LAKORN. Note Nadech and Richie's movie version does not count! We're going to be fair and not compare a lakorn series to a movie. With that being said, let's hear AF's opinions and thoughts regarding this beloved Thai classic which I hope the Thai ET doesn't remake again. Lol.

LOL, everything goes to Bie and Noona, but I admit Kwang is still a better Ung, not that i don't like Noona, I love her and Bie together. Haha. :p

^ Lol! I love my man Bie and love him even better with Noona! They are THE koo kwan right now!
Anyway, I saw a bit of Mam and Oh's version but it the quality was so bad that it made the lakorn itself quite unappealing to me.
Kwang and Bird was the first version I remember watching and man! Kwang's display of Angsamalin's character seemed super harsh to me! Seemed like she had no good feelings for Kobori at all! And need I mention the part where she intentionally threw her pregnant self down the stairs?
Benz and Num was...a drag! Sorry Benz and Num fans. Num made a handsome Kobori though.
Finally, the version of Noona and Bie which initially, the whole world seemed to be against...Gosh, where do I start? I think Noona as Angsamalin has won me over because along with her extreme hatred towards Kobori, you could tell she loved him. She was just stubborn! Now Bie is just the cutest and silliest Kobori and I like me a dorky side to Kobori. In addition to that, every time he made eye contact with his Ang, you could tell she was his world. So dreamy!

Awe, for me, I didn't even have to think hard. Most definitely Bie and Noona's version is the best so far. And I'm glad that we are comparing only lakorns to lakorns and not lakorns to movies because lakorns and movies do have a different feel. First off, am I mistaken? I thought Mam and Warrut's version was a movie.

I admit  that I only saw bits and pieces of Bird and Kwang's version years ago, but could not get into it and I blame it on the fact that I was not mature enough at the time to appreciate the intense storyline. But I did really enjoyed Num and Benz's version when it came out and that was when I first fell in love with Kobori and Ang as characters. But the thing is, as much as I wholeheartedly loved the characters and the storyline, Koo Kum, for some reason, could not make me say that it was my favorite lakorn...........that is until I saw Koo Kum 2013.........WOW!!!........and what made this version stand out is two parts...the interpretation of characters/storyline and the actors successful portrayal of their roles.

Let's start off by saying that when it was announced by Exact that Bie had been given the role, my heart just sank. I wasn't concerned with the looks, but I was concerned with the acting. Bie is a sweetheart and although I have never watched any of his other lakorns completely, of the bits and pieces that I've seen of his dramas, I know that his acting had not matured enough for the prized role of Kobori.....but he proved me wrong. His acting has improved tremendously and he really shines in this lakorn. When I saw him onscreen, I didn't see Bie, but I saw Kobori......everything from his mannerism, movement, speech, and expressions work to bring this character to life.......and that is when you know an actor is doing his job well, when you no longer see the actor, but the character he portrays. Also, Exact really took a risk by making this Kobori more lively and playful, but it worked. This really allowed Bie to make this character his own because a little of Bie's bubbly personality peeked through his character.....and it worked because there was a balance......not only did this Kobori smile more and flirt more, but when he was sad and in pain, this Kobori displayed more range of emotions than the previous Koboris.....there is a rawness to this Kobori.....he drops more tears, is more in tune to his emotions, and is sensual........and this is where Bie gets the credit, he was able to portray this character with all of this rawness that made us feel Kobori's pain, but Bie did it with a firmness that let's us know that this is still the strong and confident Kobori we've come to associate with this character.

As for Noona, to me, she is the perfect Angsumalin. The key to her portrayal is how sweet she looks, but with one glare of her eyes, we are able to see the fire that brings feisty Ang to life. Plus, I love this interpretation of the character......everything from her short hair (which adds to the freshness of the character) to how affectionate they made her. The previous Angs, in my opinion, were distant in their feelings towards Kobori. What made this Ang more relatable, is that we saw moments when she simply melted for Kobori. With the previous Angs, you couldn't really tell that she loves him until the ending when she poured her heart out. I felt this version did a better job with showing us her inner struggles between love, hate, loyalty, and duty......her struggle between what her heart longed for (Kobori), but what her head denied her because of her promise to Wanat and the fact that Kobori was Japanese (the enemy). I felt Noona did an excellent job and portrayed her character with much strength, beauty, and emotions. Noona really is an amazing actress and a beautiful crier.

Overall, I felt that this version is less gloomy and had more passion than in previous versions. Yes, the early episodes were lighthearted and Bie's smiles might have fooled us in the beginning, but the integrity of the characters and the intensity of the storyline was all there. The storyline was very detailed, the scenes were beautifully interpreted by the screenwriter, and wonderfully translated onto the screen by the director. I felt Exact was able to successfully take a storyline that we all know and make it exciting and relevant again. Even the author of Koo Kum, Khun Thammayanti watched this version , enjoyed it, praised the screenwriter, and the overall production....and she rarely watches her work that gets turned into lakorns.

Was it a movie?! I thought it was a lakorn...maybe you're right.

I haven't watched the old versions, but I love Koo Kum 2013, Bie and Noona. Their chemistry are super duper good. As for Bie, I have always loved him, watched every single drama of his, and followed his work, but when I found out he was going to played Kobori, a Japanese soldier, I didn't know if it'll be good (Bie looks like he should play romantic comedy and in the future or right now kind of lakorn). When Koo Kum airs episode 1, I totally fell in love with Kobori and how Bie portrayed it, half is him and half is Kobori. Through his eyes, you could tell his true feelings and when he's depress, but has a smile on his face, his eyes cannot lie, it reveals his true feelings. As for Noona, she portrayed Angsumalin well, you could tell that she's falling for Kobori, but she has to hold her feelings back and fight with her heart to tried to not love Kobori, the man she loves the most. I understand every single feelings of Kobori, Bie can express it by his eyes. Love Koo Kum 2013 the most and forever and always will as well as Biena.

Haha, Oh and Mam's version was a film not a lakorn.

I've never completely finished a Koo Gum lakorn, only films. The lakorn versions just don't appeal to me. However, I have seen bits and pieces of every lakorn and based off of those impressions, film or lakorn, Bird portrayed Kobori the BEST. As for the ladies I'm not sure who did best in lakorns, but in films Mam did the BEST.

This is hard when you haven't seen any lakorn version. Lol. I've only seen Oh and Mam's movie version. I don't really want to vote because they don't really count in this thread, lol, and I'd be a bias, but for the sake of voting...I'm going for it. Lol.

*coughcoughcough* I won't vote to this since I've only bits and pieces of each of the lakorn besides the movies..

Like the 2 above me stated, P'Oh & P'Mam's version does not count since it's a film/movie.. if it is to be compared, it should be compared to Bird's and Nadech's film as well as the ones before..

i've seen almost all lakorn versions (except the very few ones in 1970, 1972, 1978) - i was not born yet otherwise i'd seen it lol) so i'll vote -- Best for me is BIE/NOONA .. P'Bird and Kwang's version used to be first but after the high fever that KOBOBIE and ANGSUMANA left me .. i can't say but accept that they are the BEST lakorn adapation.

As for movie ... P'Mam Jintara and Oh Warut was the best ... The 1973 version was so CHOPPY. I didn't even know when the two fell in love.  Ah, Kobori caught Ang meet up with Vanus in daylight (but it could have something to do with lighting problem then?)  and p'Bird's version, n'ek was not as believable as p'Mam .. i didn't sympathized her one bit .. the one version i've not seen yet is Nadech's version (but from what i heard it's not going to be a good one either) that's why I concluded that p'Mam's version is the best movie adaptation (b/c we saw a few romance scenes from there and that she's happy to be around Kobori after marriage as well)

I have not seen any stage plays either so can't judge on these :p

I haven't watched any Koo Kum version except the lakorn version 2013 with Bie and Noona, which makes me fell on love with it especially Kobobie. I've heard that the rating of Nadech's version wasn't good and that the storyline wasn't as good too. In my opinion from seeing the teaser of Nadech's version, it looks like fantasy as for Bie and Noona's versions it looked really realistic.
