Chapter 1
Biggest Costume Party in Chiang Mai
M: Sawatdee Ka, Sawatdee Ka
(Mint was sweating bullets under her costume)
Mint was serving drinks to the guests and greeting them as they come up to her
The mask she was wearing was irritating and the heels made her feet throb. Mint had no other choice because she had to borrow them from P’Gie’s closet.
From a far, Mak enters the decorated steel doors with his date Yaya (They grew up together and are best friends)
Mak and Yaya grab drinks as they start to get the groove of the party
Nadech dances as the music’s beat became faster and faster. Nadech sees Mint and pulls her close
N: Let’s dance na
M:Aye Nadech, I am working na! Don’t get me into any trouble before I leave you here and not take you home you soberbutt
(sarcastically)
Nadech gave Mint a peck on the cheek
N: As you wish
(Mint and Nadech are faen gao, tae they still rak and still take care of each other even though it didn’t work out between them two)
M: Catch you later and don’t drink too much
Mint walks back to the kitchen carrying her empty tray.
IN THE KITCHEN
M: P’ where are you?
P’M: Yes N’Chalida
M: Your heels are killing my feet
P’M: Bare with it na, we have at least a couple of hours left
Mint bents down and rubs the throbbing part
First: Margie and Mint go serve more drinks! More people just came in
P’M: Ka, let’s hurry
M: You go first, I need go make more drinks
P’M: All right
Mint and Margie walk opposite directions.
As Margie made her way through the kitchen doors, “Diow!”
First: Margie you can give me that tray. And do me a favor. Make this drink for that guy right there.
First points to a group of guys
Margie wasn’t sure which one it was, tae she nods her head as if she knew
First immediately took off with the tray
Margie turns her back and walks back into the kitchen.
DANCE FLOOR
The host announces,
“Ladies and Gentlemen, please get with your partner.
We will be playing this song for you guys soon. This song goes out to all the lovers or the ones who are in search for a lover.
You have exactly 10 minutes.”
P’M: Who was it? Oi! I don’t remember. Was it him? Or was it him?
Margie turns around and bumps into someone.
B: Watch where you’re going!
P’M: Khor tot, Chun khor tot jing jing, I didn’t mean it really, Khor thot na
she wipes of his costume
***FlashBack***

the little girl brushes his shirt with her cloth
B: since you got my costume wet, I get a dance in return
P’M: Arai na?
Margie stops wiping his wet costume.
Boy took her still hand. He leads her to the dance floor.
He took her hands and places them on his shoulders.
Chills shot through her spine as they both look at each other’s eyes where the mask outlines them perfectly.
Mak and Yaya stands next to each other while Mak was talking to their mutual friend.
Yaya saw some delicious catering food on the table.
She looks at Mak, but he was still talking so Yaya left silently.
Mak turns to his side and Yaya was gone.
M:Where did Yaya go? She was here a minute ago?
Host: Hurry up ! Partner up.
Yaya reaches for a tofu ball, but to her surprise someone grabs her arm
N: I thought you said you had to work, and now you’re eating? Tsk, Tsk.
Let’s dance!
He pulls her to the dance floor.
Y: What? Krai?
She pushes him and fidgets
Y: what are you trying to do?
N: I am trying to dance with you, that’s what I’m doing! Mint don’t act shy now
Y: Mint? Tae, Tae, Im not..
Nadech twirls Yaya while Yaya was confuse asking herself what is going on
M:Yaya where did you go?
Mak searches for Yaya with no luck
M:where did she go?
He turns around and sees her carrying a tray of wine
M: Since when did you become a waitress?
He grabs the tray and set is gently on the table
M:Come on let’s go dance
M: what are you doing? Who are you?
M: I cant here you (Mak yells) phom roo phom roo, you want to dance
He leads Mint to the dance floor and puts his hands on her hips
Mint pushes Mak back but his grip was firm and strong
M: what’s wrong with you? Didn’t we talk about this? You’re not suppose to drink too much tonight!
M: I can’t hear you! Let go of me!!
Mint pinches Mak’s hands trying to fight him off(she slowly gave up)
Mint thinks to herself; He must be drunk out of his mind.
As the lyrics “Chun yung sung tung wan tee tur kub chun plum ruk, Ruk tee san wan, Ruk tee san wan, ruk chun nun peua tur,” were playing, in all three of the girls mind, questions builds up. Who is this guy I am dancing with? Who is this guy behind the mask? And why are we dancing together?
The three couples dance around each other unaware that they all were so close..so close enough that they forgot their own surrounding
The song was ending and some couples stop dancing
Yaya simply shoves Nadech
N: Hey! What is wrong with you? How come you’re acting this way?
(Nadech became sober as if he didn’t take any shots)
Y: What is wrong with you? You grabbed my hand and said that I was Mint?
N: Mint are you drunk?
Y: for the last time, I am not Mint!
N: Stop playing around *he reaches for her arm
Y: I’m not
*she backs away and soon enough, Yaya takes off her mask
Nadech’s eyes grew when he saw her exotic beauty
Y: See! I’m not Mint! Now excuse me!
She turns and pushes through the crowd.
Nadech follows her but stops when his friends pull him in for a conversation
N:Oi! Save it for later.
He stares at the spot he last seen her. He lost sight of someone who made his heart skip a beat, again.
Mak was getting comfortable thinking to himself, Yaya’s scent has changed?
She smells so extravagant and she seems a bit shorter?
-music hits its last beat-
Mak’s grip slowly drops.
Mint broke free and without any words, she walks away worrying about getting scold by First’s mom (her boss).
M:Yaya where are you going? You know you smell kind of weird today. *he lets out a laugh
M:is something bothering you? Did anyone do anything to you because you did disappear?
Annoyed, Mint turns around to face Mak, instead Margie’s heels snaps leaving her grabbing Mak’s shoulders for support.
Mak’s body crushes Mints body as both of them fell on top of each other.
Inches away, their faces nearly touching. Breathing hard, they both look at each others eyes.
Mak saw a beautiful set of unfamiliar eyes. Mint looks into his eyes and felt her heart race
10 times faster as his eyes captivates her.
When their eyes met, it was dangerous. Time would even stop if they got any closer.
Mak breaks the silence.
M: Yaya? Your scent didn’t just change, your eyes did too.
Mint pushes Mak off of her and tries to get up.
M: You almost killed me with your massive weight!
Her throbbing feet kept her from standing up
M: Massive Weight? You're the one who pulled me down with you
Yaya pushes through everyone to see what was the chaos
M: Here let me help you
At the same time Nadech came running too in excitement to see why there was a crowd.
But as soon as he saw Mint,
N: MINT! What happened?
Nadech got on the ground and sweeps Mint off the ground.
Mak was taken back at how fast Nadech was, he steps aside and watches as Nadech picks up Mint
N: It was the heels, wasn’t it?
Mint nods unsure if it was really the heels, or those eyes of the guy behind the mask.
Yaya stares at Mint, feeling like someone was closely looking at her, Mint looks over.
Yaya and Mint looks at each other with big eyes
Mak looks at them in confusion.
M: You both are wearing the same costume
N:Let’s go put ice on your feet before it swells up.
Before Nadech carried Mint away, he glances over at Yaya
he then takes Mint back to the kitchen.
Mak and Yaya looks at each other and ask
“what just happened?”
Margie slowly takes her hands off of Boy’s shoulders.
B: what’s your name?
P’M: Rasri, Rasri or Margie is fine.
Boy repeats Rasri, Margie?
First: Margie, where have you been this whole time?
I’ve been trying to look for you and Mint.
Let’s go before my mom says anything.Excuse us.
Boy: Diow, Diow!
Boy only saw the back of Margie.
He took off his mask raising his hand to where his scar was, repeats: Rasri, Rasri Margie

Chapter 2
Minutes before the sun open its arms of light, the dew on the tree drips on Mak.
He wipes himself with his towel and begins his stretching routine.
“You almost killed me with your massive weight!”
M: Massive weight ler?
Those words were still fresh in his head. He rolls his head around,
M: “tsk. Who was she?”
Mak takes off jogging.
M: P’Gie, I’m leaving early today for work na
P’M: isn’t it too early to go to work?
M: definitely early, tae remember at the Costume Party? Jao Nai gave us an earful for an hour.
*shakes her head
-the same chills shot through Margie’s spine as she thought about the Costume Party-
Carried away she thought about that guy. He seems so familiar.
M: P’Gie, P’Gie
P’M: ehh khor thot na, I just remembered something when you mentioned about that.
M: arai?
P’M: Uhh nothing
(That night they came home not talking about what had happened.
Both Mint and Margie went straight to their rooms, thinking about what had happened that night)
P’M: you should leave now na.
She gives Mint a gentle hug.
M: you’re lucky you don’t work today
Mint pinches Margie’s back and runs towards the door.
M:rak ter mak na joob job
Mint waves a Margie
P’M: Joob Joob
Margie stares at Mint walking away.
P’M: You’re so grown up now! I wish phaw&mae were still here with us.
She let out a deep sigh and closes the door.
Boy's Room
(Days have passed after the Costume Party and Boy has been having trouble finding peace with sleep)
He tosses and turns in bed as he thought about who she might be.
He opens the drawer next to him and pulls out a piece of stone with an M engraved in it.
B: can it be you? My other half.
He looks at the stone with new hope.
Hair Salon
Nadech walks in his mother’s hair salon.
N: Mae ja, I think I need a haircut. You better not charge me today because I am taking you to lunch!
Mae!!! Where are you?
Nadech looks around.
One of the worker responds back to Nadech,
Jao nai is still interviewing someone right now. You’re going to have to wait.
N: Interviewing someone?
Curious, Nadech walks to his mom’s little office.
N: Mae, Sila said you are inter………
Nadech opens the door with utter surprise…..
He gasps when he saw the girl sitting across from his mother.
Mam: Yaya this is my son Nadech.
Yaya turns around greeting Nadech with a sincere smile.
(Nadech knew who Yaya was, but Yaya didn’t know who he was)
Nadech smirks.
Sawatdee khrap.
Nadech turns around and does the Yes gesture!
He turns back and gives Mam and Yaya the cutest smile ever.
Park
Mint took the same shortcut route in the park. Hurriedly and worried she kept looking at her watch.
M: I have to be there before Jao Nai even comes to work. Exactly at 10 today. That’s right 10. Avoid her as possible. Avoid her as possible.
Mint was determined!
Mak was jogging and looking at his watch at the same time.
Mak: I should hurry up and go home to take a shower. The meeting will start in an hour from now.
Mak looks up, not able to control the moment, Mint and Mak collides into each other.
Mint ran into Mak’s nose while Mak ran into Mint’s forehead.
The impact of their collision left them both dizzy.
Together: OWWWWWWW!!
Speaking with his hands covering his nose,
Mak: your big forehead just fractured my nose!
Mint stops rubbing her forehead and looks at Mak,
Mint: And your big jaw just murdered my forehead!!
Mak lets go of his hands and sees that his hands were covered with blood.
Alarmed, Mint rushes over and pulls a handkerchief out of her bag.
Mint: here wipe your nose with this!
Mak: I don’t want to use that! Pai Haa maaw!! Right now!
Mint looks at her watch, she almost forgot about work,
Mint: Tae chun mai mee wela na.
She forces the cloth into Mak’s hand, but instead he caught hold of her hand in return.
Mint: Ploy Ploy!
Mak: I am not going to let go of you until you take me to haa maaw.
Mak got closer to Mint trying to keep her from fidgeting. As he got closer,
he stops to the breeze that passed by. Her fragrant, her fragrant is so familiar.
Mak thought to himself, where did I smell this? Her floral fragrant mesmerized him at that moment in time.
Mint looks at Mak, then behind Mak.
Mint: tam ruaat! Chuay ja duay ! Chuay duay !!
Mak quickly snaps into reality and lets go of her hands.
He turns around to look if there was a cop. Mint stomps on his foot and runs.
Mak: Oi!!!!!!! Khun!!!!! Tsk. He grabs his foot in pain.
Mint turns around and sticks her tongue at Mak.
Mint: try catching me yai khan ga grai (big jaw)
Mak: Don’t think I’m going to let this go!
Mint turns around and walks off as if she wasn’t afraid.
Mak: my nose is bleeding, now my foot has internal bleeding.
Who the heck is she?
Mak shakes his head and took a step.
He steps on something and looks down.
Mak: Arai wha?
Mak picks it up and saw that it was a nametag.
he read out loud:
Mint Chalida Vijitvongthong ; worker @ Ping Nakara Boutique Hotel and Spa.
Mak: you’re dead!
Mak smirks revengefully.
M&P'M HOME
P’M: It is so boring in the house without Mint. I should start on a book?
Margie stood up and walks over to her drawer. She opens it and without looking, she grabs something that was cold.
P’M: what is it?
Margie pulls the cold object out and her eyes grew as she saw the object.
P’M: I almost forgot about this.
**flashback**
Margie, I had our first initial engraved into these two stones. The stones make a heart when connected. I keep your initial and you keep mine na. The younger Boy smiles at the younger Margie. Let’s try it. They both connected the hearts as the horizon shadows the heart
P’M: where are you now P’Boy ja? I’ve waited for you to the point of….forgetting….forgetting about us.
Maybe I shouldn’t read a book? I should go do something productive.
She takes the stone with her.
MAM'S HAIR SALON
Mam: So the razors are in this drawer right here if guys come in for haircuts.
These scissors right here are placed in their drawers after you finish using them.
Yaya was taking a workload of notes.
Mam: Nadech move. And this right here is going to be your station. You’re hired Yaya.
Y: gasp* she was in disbelief..did I really get the job?
Mam: from your resume and everything, this job will suit you very well.
N: You give it to her that fast Mae? She hasn’t even proved anything.
Y: doesn’t mean I can’t prove anything. Bring it on.
Mam: she will. Nadech come and sit here.
N: sit where? Here?
Mam: here!
She grabs his shoulders and places him at Yaya’s station.
You are the test!
N: me! *Nadech points to himself.
Mam: you said you needed a haircut right? Well here!
Yaya come here! Prove my son that you are capable of handling this job.
Yaya ties her hair into a pony tail.
Y: what kind of haircut do you want?
N: just a slight slight very slight trim, if you know what I mean? Just incase, you don’t know what you’re doing.
Yaya grabs Nadech’s head and sits it in the water. She purposely turns on the cold knob and showers cold water on Nadech head.
N: Hey! What are you doing?
Y: stay still you wouldn’t want be to mess up would you?
Nadech swallows and nods his head
(he loves his hair too much to even let anyone destroy it)
Yaya cuts his hair quietly as he observes her.
Mam smiles as she sees Nadech adoring her.
In no time, Yaya was finished.
N: I told you to trim it not cut it to the point where I’m bald!
Mam: Nadech look at yourself before you even say anything.
From what I saw, you were adoring Yaya instead of looking if she made any mistakes.
Nadech felt his cheeks turn pink!
N: Ow Mae, you’re suppose to be on my side.
Yaya takes off her apron.
Y: may I ask when I should come in for work?
Mam: proong nee, you could come in if you don’t have plans. I don’t want to ruin any of your plans tomorrow.
Y: mai pen rai mai pen rai na Jao nai! I will come in tomorrow.
Mam: in here we don’t call anyone Jao Nai, just call me Mam, na.
Y: tae Jao nai
Mam: No buts.
Sila: tae, we still end up calling her Jao Nai!
Yaya smiles at Sila
Sila: welcome to our crew
Y: Thank you na
Nadech mimics what Yaya was saying.
Yaya turns and sees what Nadech was doing and looks at him up and down
Y: I will be leaving now, she thanks Mam one more time and walks off.
Mam: Nadech walk Yaya out
N: That’s fine with me
Nadech walks behind Yaya.
Yaya can feel the closeness of Nadech.
Y: can you not get so close to me. There’s something called personal space.
N: Tae, I want to be close to you.
Yaya turns around
Y: what did you just say?
N: I said that today’s weather is beautiful!
Y: that’s what I thought!
She turns around and took out her keys.
N: My mom wanted me to take you out to eat.
She wants me to get to know you even better before you really start working here.
Y: jing jing ler?
N: jing jing!!
Y: Sorry but I already have a date tonight!
She unlocks her door and got into her car.
N: it’ll be a quick dinner.
she closes her door and starts her engine.
Yaya opens her window,
Chun mai ow.
She drives off.
N: Oieeee! psh! You think I really wanted to go with you too!
In matter of fact, one day you will go on a date with me, that’s promise.
Mak's house
Out of the shower, Mak wipes his chest.
He looks at his nose,
You almost broke today
His phone kept beeing so he checks it.
5 missed calls
1 = Yaya and 4 = Secretary Gubgib.
I bet Yaya got the job.
Mak dials her number.
Y: Mak guess what?
M: you got the job didn’t you?
Y: Yes yes I did! Rome and I are going to go eat out. Come join us.
M: Congrats na Ya! I would but I have a meeting to attending.
Y: that sucks!! Hey I’ll talk to you later, Rome is calling.
M: Kays, I’ll talk to you later. Have fun.
Y: Thanks, bye na.
Mak clicks and his phone rings again.
Caller I.D: Secretary Gubgib
M: Hello
G: Mak ler?
M: Ofcourse it’s Mak. Who else?
G: khor thot ka. Your aunt wanted me to tell you that today’s meeting is canceled.
M: meeting canceled?
G: Ka.
M: I guess then. Thanks.
G: Mai pen rai ja.
Mak clicks the phone and begins drying his hair.
Should I go eat lunch with Yaya and Rome?
He grabs his watch and something fell on the ground.
I guess I don’t have to go eat lunch with Yaya and Rome anymore.
Mak picks up the nametag.
he spun it and walks out the bathroom.
Park
Margie walks in the park and found the biggest tree. She sat under it and smiles.
P’M: Sawatdee Ka Mr. Tree. Do you remember me? I use to come here every day and sit under you. Sit under you with P’Boy. There was a time, I remember the day when my parents left this world. I came here crying so much so much to the point I didn’t want to live anymore. I felt selfish for wanting to leave N’Mint and wanting to join Phaw&mae. P’Boy was there to comfort me, instead I pushed P’Boy to the ground. He fell so hard. I remember him yelling out in pain because the glass hidden in the grass had cut his hand. I remember waking up. Waking up to reality. The blood that I saw on P’Boy made me realize, made me realize how precious life was. *Margie starts sobbing
I remember when he told me that his dad filed for bankruptcy. And there was a possibility he might have to move to London. The last time I ever saw him, was under you Mr.Tree. The day where he gave me this, she takes out the rock. I’ve kept it until now to see if its other half would return back.
*shakes her head. But all I can do is remember, remember not to forget. Forget about him. She then sets the stone on the root of the tree that was growing out of the ground.
Boy drives around looking at the familiar places he grew up loving. He finally came back from London after his dad filed for bankruptcy and fled his family to London. There was a place where he misses the most, the tree that he and Margie would sit at to tell their day and problems. Boy nods his head,
B: Boy what are you waiting for? Let’s go.
Boy arrives at the park. He walks towards the big tree and smiles just like Margie did.
B: wow you’ve gotten bigger!
He smells the air.
It stills feels the same here. But, she’s not here with me. He looks up the sky where he saw a pair of birds flying. I wish you were here with me.
Boy sits down and his hand where the scar was touched something. He looks over and notices that it wasn’t just anything; it was something he hasn’t seen in years.
In disbelief, Boy grabs the stone and stood up.
B: how can it be here? Was Margie here?
He looks around feeling like his heart beat as if his heart might come out of this chest.
Boy runs screaming Margie, Margie!!!!!!!!! Where are you? Margieeeee!!
Breathless he runs another round but no luck. Boy’s knees grew weak. He falls onto the ground.
He reaches down to his pocket and grabs the other half. Boy places the stones together.
B: I will find you.
WORK
The whole day Mint felt sick. Not did her head just get hit by a big jaw, but her nametag was missing.
One thing you must have at all time is your name tag. And knowing that Jao Nai’s
meeting got canceled made her even more sick.
First: what’s wrong with you? You look sick.
M: I’m fine.
F: Mint where is your name tag?
M: uhhh I, I *she scratches her head, I
JN: Mint!
Mint’s eyes grew as she heard her boss’s voice. She turns and faces her boss.
M: Yes Boss.
JN: I will like you to place an order for 3 large cakes. I will be hosting another party soon.
M: Ka, Ka
Mint kind of turns sideways so she won’t notice her missing name tag.
JN: what’s wrong with you?
M: I uh I uh I need to use the restroom.
JN: you can go do that after you place an order on the cakes first.
F: I can do that for you Mint if you like.
M: Oh no you don’t have to.
Her boss walks around Mint, Mint got so nervous she felt her knees getting weak
JN: Mint what happened to your name tag? What are the rules ?
Mint stares at the ground
M: We are to…..
M: Here you go!!
Mint saw her name tag infront of her. She was so relief.
Mint happily grabs it out of Mak’s hands. Khob khun ka, khob khun mak jing jing.
She looks to see who it was and to her surprise it was Mak.
Mak raises his eyebrows at Mint. Mint bit her lips fighting the words that wanted to come out of her mouth.
JN: MAK?
Mak took his aunt to the side.
M: Paa don’t tell that girl anything. Even our relation.
JN: tummai?
M: Lie to her that I am a new worker here na, na na Paa
JN: Under what circumstances?
M: for me to help you and First with the hotel
Mak gave her the puppy eyes!
JN: I’ll reconsider it
She turns around and faces Mint,
This is our new worker and your partner.
F: wait? Tae, Maa
JN: Mint show him around and tell him what is what. Remember to also ask for a new set of
fresh clean work clothes for him. First come with me.
Mint nods trying to catch all the words she was saying.
Mak was amused looking at Mint and giggles to himself.
First and her boss left leaving her with Mak.
Mint: Today is such a bad day!
Mak: your day hasn’t started yet
Gib walks passes Mint and Mak,
G: Mak what….
Behind Mint Mak was doing the shhhhhhhh* gesture
Gib covers her mouth and walks away..
Mint: that was pretty awkward..now come on over here..we need to go get you your set of clothes.
Mak: all right partner
Mint rolls her eyes and leads him to a room of clothes.
Mint: go look for your size and hurry up and change in here
Mak walks in and laughs to him self….. change in here..are you crazy?
Mint:what did you say?
Mak closes the door on Mint.
Mint: erghhhh ! why do I have to work with a crazy person like him?
Mint wanted to cry.
Mak opens the door fully dressed.
without any sign of care,
Mint: over here.
Mak: aren’t you going to tell me how I look?
Mint: Look over there, you see those flowers, go fix them.
You see how dirty that window is, go wipe it. You see that the bulb is
flickering, go change it. And do you see the mess right there, go clean it. And.
Mak: Diow! I did not catch any words you have just said.
Mint: one thing you need to know about this job, you have to be serious and open you ears.
She grabs both of his ears and stretches them.
Mak: Ow! That hurts.
Mak grabs her hands
When his warm hands touched her, Mint lifts her eyes to Mak’s eye level.
both head shifts to opposite sides.
Mint’s mind:his eyes, his eyes makes the stars look like they’re not shining.
Mak’s Mind: her eyes her eyes make the stars look like they’re not shining.
In a moment of silence, Gib clears her throat
Get to work you too!
Gib winks at Mak and waves at Mint!
Mint: Uhh come on let’s get to work. Mint shyly walks off.
Mak: just that and you’re shy about it.
Wait up MY PARTNER !
Through out the day, Mak listened to Mint’s lectures, her demands, her yawns, her sneezes and most of all, he got the chance to spy at her taking a nap when they were on break. Mak was starting to enjoy his time spent with Mint
