AVI Codecs

My computer crashed a couple days ago and when I rebooted everything, all my programs and files got deleted...I was wondering is there a way I can download and install an AVI codec for window movie maker because when i try to import a avi file into movie maker, it says I have to dl the codec but idk what codec tehy're talking about

try to download one of the codec there and see if it'll work (codec is for window media player)
perhaps, it'll work for the maker itself too.

I tried that but it didnt work still...its okay, I just have to convert my files to wmv then

^when i have window - i use this to check which codec i'm missing .. maybe you can try that as well : http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

once you find out which codec -- you can google and download them to make sure your avi works.

does the codec only work for windows media player or for movie maker as well? and if so.. does it let you load avi onto movie maker? lol.. im confused >_<
