Can any of you AFusers introduce me to some songs or artists that have/use thai instruments for the music?  As much as I love these types of songs... I can't really find much of it :( I really like the traditional songs too.

Here are some example songs:

- "A Song Khai" by Ying Thitikarn  - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hooPIQ68GIc

- The OST for Silamanee 2008 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYXmjKHAX9o

- The traditional song "Lao Duang Deun" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1fEEVhNg64

I'd truly appreciate the help.  :3

I'm in the same boat as you aikoden lol. I enjoy songs that use traditional Thai instruments too but sometimes, they're hard to find.

I find that looktoong songs use a fair amount of traditional instruments. I know of a few but can't think of them off the top of my head. If I have more time, I'll try to post some here.

In the mean time, here's one:

So are you looking for looktung's, morlum's, or just songs in general that use Thai instruments??
I'm sure their are plenty of looktung's and morlum's on youtube, but if you're looking for songs in general that use Thai instruments that will be a bit tricky to find. HEHE. Anyway, I have some, but I think you may've heard them already. Haha.

I like lookthong/morlum music too but I'm actually searching for more songs in general that use the traditional instruments. .. that's why it's pretty tricky to find indeed lol.  :p  Thanks for the list, I've heard of a few, but it's great to refresh the memory hehe :D

Well, welcome aboard on my ship that sails the music sea in search for songs with traditional instruments. HAHA. I'm sure there are a lot out there, but probably titled in Thai. Haha. Sometimes I'll across a nice song accidentally. I haven't though, which is a bummer because I need some new songs to add to my playlist. Haha.

What a treasure, I LOVE traditional thai songs, sounds so beautiful!!

It's sure very tricky to find esp when most of them are written in thai. For the last 3yrs I've been looking for the traditional song that fai's parents sung in duang jai akkanee, but still havent manage to find it yet :(

P'Got has a really nice voice, he sings lao duang duen the best!!

whats the difference bt lookthong and morlum?

Yes, love Got!

From my understanding Got's music would be considered looktung. As for morlum something like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzRfrPC9ufU

Song- Kae Nai Jai Gaw Paw (Just in the Heart is Enough)
Artist- Anakpat Thaikiew
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3ozjNColoE
*Two versions of this song. Unsure if it's a classic. Don't know the other singer's name.*

Song- Naam Taa Saeng Taai (Torchlit Teardrops)
Artist- Gun Napat Injaieua
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaITR3-B-jo
*This one is a classic song; Gun is not the original singer. I think the original singer is Got Jakrapun.*

Song- Rak Ter Nirun (Love You Eternally)
Artist- Gun Napat Injaieua
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5rNQfB-3ho
*This one is a classic song; Gun is not the original singer. I think the original singer is Sirasak.*

Song- Yaht Phet (Diamond Drops)
Artist- Bie Sukrit Wisetkaew
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jYITVbTf4M
*This one is a classic song; Bie is not the original singer.*

^^ That version of Yard Phet is so bad! Haha. Not because of Bie, but the whole song is such poor quality. Haha. Here's a better version, not Bie's version though:

Yard Phet by Uthen Prommin (It's such a beautiful song, but I've yet to find a version I really like.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRdRFoqRUC4

As for Nam Tah Sang Tai, Got's not the original singer. Hehe. That song's pretty old.
Here's to looking for different versions.

Nam Tah Sang Tai by Got Jacrapun Arbkornburi

Ruk Ter Niran by Sirasak

I love Yard Phet, beautiful song with beautiful lyrics. I've downloaded a few versions, but this one is my fav (and it's got nothing to do with my naya heh)

It almost became my favorite too! Haha. The beginning was nice until Aon tried going high pitch. That part killed it for me. Haha.

Haha. I think Aon has a nice voice, but she can't control it well, so it sounds sloppy.
I like the slow paced versions, but I just don't like their voices.

Haha, I wish I knew, but I don't. Sorry. I just found it randomly from watching Thailand's edition of The Voice.
