omfg 3000baht for water and electricity hahhaha do they live in a mansion and watering their lawn? and u have to take into consideration, are they using a washing machine, have central air, etc.

i lived with ppl that lives in a town house in bkk and it was not close to that figure for 2 months... geez...

i really think u should do as jojo has suggested and what i've suggested earlier... go there to see the place and ask the people there... how much they are spending on the electricity and water... u will not know until u are where u wanna be and ask the ppl living in that building or whatever how much they are spending.

i've visited someone in central bkk... their apartment is ok... a room with a bathroom... with a/c, security, i guess not hi-so but habitable for 3500baht, not all inclusive... just keep in mind, the more central u wanna be, the more expensive it gets.

but the way u've presented urself as a backpacker... i don't think u would mind if it's not so hi-so...

and besides, if u really want cheap cheap... kow sarn is the place to be... but um yeah, it's if u like that lifestyle.

ur welcome well maybe u can like stay in a hotel first and then like look visual at places half of them site are not updated bcoz they take the pics wen the rooms look their best and it takes u by supprise wen u see it but any way good luck on tryna find a place that cheap
that is very true - websites are not always 100% :/

have you checked out thaivisa.com in classified? You might even consider asking people there although alot of them are expats so they have money.

I have to ask though, where are you studying? Are you going to be in a school or something? Then its probably better for you to let us know which area you'll be living at. If you're just going to immerse yourself in thailand then I'm not sure what your plans are in order to learn it.
yes i've checked thaivisa and spent some time there
didn't find ppl there THAT useful (on what i was looking for)
couple posts but no replies
saw someone else asking about places to rent before as well (but got rude answers lol)

i will only be studying Thai in a language school - which one not sure yet but there are about 3 that i'm interesting at
which area to live does not matter as long as it's not too far and easy to access to BTS or MRT

i did find quite a few that MAY be good in this website:
http://www.9apartment.com/

can't really say if it's the best site i've visited so far
but sure gave me a lot of ideas and to kill a lot of time :p

i know it's the best to go and see the place
however i do need to do more research before i go
i do not wish to spend like a month in BKK just to look for a place to stay
if i have a list - it'll make my job easier

as for water and electricity it's crazy i know
the friend who told me that
he didn't use a lot of water or electricity..but the fees were horrible
but the next place he stayed...his computer is on 24hrs and he used a lot of other stuffs
the fees were like half of what he was paying

the place doesn't need to be hi-so as well....doesn't matter how hi-so it is..once i move in...it'll be a mess..... :D

lol... yeah it's tough... but yeah u will probably not spend 1 month finding a place to stay... but yes options and ideas prior to arrival makes sense. but yeah like i said, if they have a website, they will be expensive... additionally, if they have a website, they are marketing so they can sell/rent out those place... so what u see online and what u see in person is like YIKES haha.

as for are there really 3500 baht a month apartments? yes there are... the reason why u don't know of it is because u look for the more expensive type of places that fits your lifestyle more... while others... well, they don't have much choice but to get a regular place to call home temporarily.

i can ask some folks for ya... but like darvil said, i'd probably need a specific place besides BTS and MRT... because um they have many stations lol... like a specific kwaeng would be good... like barng na, din dang, siam, don meaung?

thanks noungning ~ these are very helpful and will keep me busy
(of course i'll start with the ones that i can understand first LOL)

i saw one:
Rent Price : 320,000 Baht / Month
man even if i win the lottery...i wouldn't even waste my $ on renting a place that much per month
(i will just buy one :p :p)

as for what area ~ really it doesn't matter...BTS is short..MRT is not that long as well..so any places that's near by BTS/MRT will be fine
even if it's the terminal station doesn't matter...however i do prefer BTS more than MRT

i'll check the sites for now ~

thanks again!!
