Can't a young girl wear a diamond ring?

I'm underage and I wear a small diamond ring. I was trying on my grandma's ring and she asked if I wanted one and I said yes. So on my b-day she bought me one. I have worn diamonds ever since I was little so I don't think it was weird. People always come up and ask me if I'm engaged, like actual adults and classmates and their seriously asking. My friend (who's white) told me it was stupid to wear one if I'm not engaged. My mom told me in Cambodian, Thai, Laos culture you can wear a ring, as long as it's not on your wedding finger. I don't even wear it on my left hand ring finger. I wear it on my right hand middle finger. I'm tired of people asking why I'm wearing a diamond ring, yes it's real, yes I'm not engaged. This substitute teacher even asked why I'm wearing it, who gave it and is it real. She even looked at me strangely. Even my 11 year old cousin wears one, she lives in Asia, it's ok to wear it there, no one asks you questions.

I don't find anything strange with it. I've worn ones since I was 14, which is over a decade ago, but I never received any reaction as you have.

Yes it's okay to wear a diamond regardless of your age. Those ppl's reactions are quite strange since you're only wearing it on your middle finger on your right hand. My dad's a goldsmith so I've also worn jewellery all my life too but I've never been questioned the way you have.

When you mention Canada people always assume a Khmer person lives in Toronto which is true so many people live there. My relatives live there too. There's a lot of Khmer people in Alberta too. I love it here, beautiful mountains and lakes.

555 It's true since Toronto and Montreal has the biggest Khmer population compared to all the other provinces. Speaking of Alberta I wish to visit hometown again some day. I haven't been back since I moved here but gosh a 12 hour drive :shock2:

My mom say the same to me that I can wear rings as long as it's not on my wedding fingers. I wonder if your ring wasn't a diamond ring but ordinary, yet it's still real...would they still ask you such question.

I used to wear a ruby one but that was when I was in grade 5. Back then the kids in my class would ask me of I was married. But then again they are kids and I was too so we were all stupid.
