No ideas for any names at the moment, but if we seattle w/ ShareRice.Net, that sounds good too. I agree on what cecilia mentioned.

Darv, from the looks of it, we both joined the forum the same day lolz. Except you've exceled so much since then on here and become our admin, which is great. Your awesome and I'm glad that we have someone as dedicated as you here.

honestly, i don't care, but since you are the one who has poured your heart and soul into making this forum what it is today...like literally...you should have the final say. people just don't know what kind of hell you had to go through to keep this place alive...and to keep many people happy. plus, i believe sarn would be fine with this too, so just do what you gotta do. i mean, you built this empire. why not?

I am glad you found some sort of solution for this Darv; however, isn't ShareRice.net orginally Diane's? It was a lovely name and a lovely site. =) I like the name, especially if you're trying to aim towards a more-Asian rather than a more-Thai. However, it was founded under the roots of Thai ET fans. As long as you don't stop halfway through any of this stuff you've got planned due to the new upcoming life for yourself. ;D I'll help support every once in a while. Or, I can become very dedicated again, (like how I used to feel - never really was, I think.
Yes it was her but you have to remember that I was there when it was being brainstormed (Jeff came up with the name) and I was a part of the launch myself. But the site has since been disabled and I am not sure how many people actually remember it ;)

Plus I have asked Diane about this before and she definitely approves. Also note that it was sharerice.com not sharerice.net ;)

Maybe Diane will be motivated to guest DJ for us with the name SR! :)

The thing is even if the name is more general Asian, it doesn't really matter as its what the members are into so its not like all the Thai stuff will disappear. If other sections get more activity there is nothing wrong with that ;) The site has been stagnant for a while now and it would be good to bring some new blood.

Well Nameless is right.. I'm just moving the site forward into the future (At least I think I am). Its like growing up. Finally we can remove our diapers and start wearing pants.

hmm, interesting.
anyways, i didn't know there was quite a history with sarnworld, but i'm sure it won't be forgotten...
but then again, i wasn't here for that long, so i don't know any of it, until reading the comments here, so i'm getting a little gist of it.
also i remember stumbling upon this site by word of mouth... it was kimberleigh who told me about this site, because i was asking her about thai music and all that, because i was never able to get me thai info and among other things, but now i do, because of sarnworld.
anyways, if you do do a name change, but it's asian orientated, but still wanting to keeping to thai more... how about just changing it to ThaiShareRice, just add thai to it? if that makes any sense, it's still going with what... cecilia said, but a major focus with thai... but ugh yeah, if it doesn't make sense, then please ignore it. C:
but yeah, as long as nothing is forgotten, it should be okay, change isn't all that bad, it's just how you look at it.

Think about the positive aspects lol :p we can start inventing new names to call ourselves. Ricey's, Ricers, Rice Krispies, etc lol.... We can change the post titles to the thing that says "hatchling" "adult" and etc ... LOL we can be like "Rice Grain" Then Rice Roots, Rice Stems, Rice Plant, Full Grown Rice, Completely Blossomed Rice, etc .... Ouuuuuuuuu

Or ... like Raw Ricey, Cooking Ricey, Cooked Ricey, Stale Ricey, Burnt Ricey LOL

I know there is a high attachment and long train of memories for those that have been around since the beginning, but everything will remember the same we are just changing our name to be more universal to all Asian Entertainment. We can always keep the focus Thai, but wouldn't it be cool if our other forums were active too? Don't think of it as the end of sarnworld think of it as what Namie said a step into the next grade. The name is also easier to remember and it is extremely catchy! It'll be so easy to remember the name "Sharerice" I think it also represents the forum as a whole. We are sharing rice with one another figuratively speaking ^.^

The name change is between you and Sarn, I will support this forum no matter what. "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet."

Haven't been active in a while, didn't even know about issues between Sarn and others.

I'm okay with anything.

if i have to pick between thaisharerice over sharerice, i would pick the later just b/c it didn't generalize anything. sure, the main focus still be mostly on thai so there's no need to attach that 'thai' part to it. just like soompi, they didn't called it KOREANSOOMPI either (just pointing this out)

I don't want any misunderstandings so I'll clarify myself.

First I'm not moving the focus of the forum. But I AM doing some extra stuff which will be on the root domain "IE sharerice.com". This new thing will be driven by the community.

The thing is, I can't really direct the forum or the new stuff I do. Content here is posted by the community here and that content will reflect accordingly to the audience's interest. All I'm trying to do now is to bring more people to the forum who have similar interests.

Thanks for the love. But to be honest, I have been slacking off at least for a year now. I mainly do the stuff I do for my love of Thailand, the community, and of course pride/ego. Alot of things changed this year with new developments in my life and I just felt the need to expand the site a bit more. But I didn't want to do it on a site that is a bit tainted so I figured we do a fresh start. New graphics.. new names and new outlook for the future. My life does not depend on this site but it is a cherished slice of it and I am damn proud to have kept it going this long (and longer in the future!)

We're going to have to come up with some threads and polls on this very thing! And of course with the awards and badges.. they are going to need their names ;)

And Joey, what this all about dedication?? Aren't you suppose to be busy studying?? ;)
My one and only student. You want to reclaim the padawan label??

@KhoOnxNouxWanxJai, love all the member rank names. C: very creative and will fit good honestly.

@cecilia, true, sharerice could be like soompi, didn't think of it like that. so yeah, ignore my thaisharerice name ^^''

also, i think if you would like to still keep the history around, maybe writing some information about it and posting it in the topic main page where all the generalization goes. does that make sense? i don't know what to call it. but yeah, i wouldn't mind reading it. C:

anyways, overall, i don't mind what happens, as long as everything is still intact and i'm sure the old and new members will help keep on making the forum grow, regardless of being an old sarnie or new ricer.

There is an "About Us" page up above.. but I never gotten the time to write about it yet.. One day I will.

There is just alot of things to write about and I'm afraid it'll turn into a novel (everyone accuses me of writing too much) and most people will fall asleep reading.

I'm sure they rather be reading some of the more exciting fanfics here instead lol ;)

I like sarnworld but I believe there should at least be a little more regulations with the name calling going around....people take it too serious when state their opinion and I think that should be stop in the future domain because it is giving sarnworld a bad name....

this comes with restructuring and moderation.

obviously we can't prevent someone from stating their opinions, this is a free speech country, however if it's impacting anyone very negatively, anything on this board should be reported. i understand that currently there is pretty much an inactive modding team, but if something is bothering you, you should report it and have it looked at.

our rules, terms & conditions as a member will probably be reevaluated. ultimately we do want our members to be happy because we want everyone to come back and help us grow ;)
