LMAO! Really.. What video store you go to.. I live in San Francisco and there's none out here besides Oakland.. And Oakland doesn't really have much..
Yak, I used to rent movies from a Store in Oakland. The lady told me she hated Mayura Business practice and that is why she cut business ties with them. I asked her why.

This is what happened, back during the VHS days she would buy video tape from Mayura at $15 per episode. It was rental at that time so I believe she rent them at $1 per episode. She made copies and rent them out as so. Mayura does not want buyers to do that. They want buyers to buy multiple set from them and rent out the originals and not make copies and rent them out. Do the math, $15 per episode and say 10 episode in a Lakorn, that mean the buy in cost is $150 per set. How many people do you have to rent it out to break even? If it's a good lakorn, she maybe lucky, but it not... then what? Mayura do not buy back. Imagine if she has to buy 2-3 set of a title? WHAOOO.. that was how Mayura made a lot of money and able to afford many properties including wives back in Cambodia. None of my business... but Long Beach is a Cambodian community so you tend to hear things. Yet with all the money they made they fail to take viewers comments and suggestion - like I stated in my previous post.

LMAO!!! That's exactly what I happened with Mary's Video down here in LB too. The owner told me the exact same thing...they even try to force other titles on them. But they said no thanks and stopped selling mayura too.

ehehhe OK, so 2 store owners had the same story hmmmmm... then when they converted to DVDs as a master to sell, it was sold at $10 per episode, per DVD. You would think they were high quality DVD like the American movies huh? Nope, just burn DVD with stick labels. You can see some DVDs has multiple labels. Still I thought $10 per episode is high when they can only rent it out to Khmer at the most $1 per episode.

Then they moved to the Double Layer with encryption and made an announce about people taking their movies and renting or selling for cheap LOL.. because they were loosing buyers and other dubbing company came in the mix. They were selling .60 cent per episode (ORIGINALS) to the stores. Store are able to buy in large quantity and even if they only make .50 profit on each episode, those add up with they have regular customers. This was the reason why Mayura changed their business practice. Then they couldn't keep up with dubbing because there are so many Thai TV channels and Lakorn release left and right. Other dubbing company has helpers in Cambodia and such... people can't wait for Mayura so they switch... this is when Mayura went downhill and stop dubbing.

Now they are back... waiting to see if anything has improved...

Now that they are back...so for still they've released one lakorn I know of and just took out competitions...they still slow at rolling out lakorns. Great comeback Mayura :D

Lol.. I never had any bad experience with Eksatin.. Their is kinda high, but at least their quality is good.. Not like Dubbed-Khmer.. Angkorwat sales originals? What? I heard they sold copies? What about Chinese series? Are they originals too?
Oh...i never ordered from angkorwat. i just assumed the are legit...LOL. OOPS.

Well, I've spoken with the video store I get mayura dvds from....they have boat laods of old mayura lakorns that they've transfered to dvd themselves and they duplicate newer ones for resell at a cheaper price too. Anyways...they've told me they gotten into it with mayura before and told mayura they can't stop them from resell cause mayura has no real copyrights to the thai lakorn. Mayura couldn't say anything and left them alone.
from my understanding with legal law...mayura has entitlements to their audio & their trademark logo which means they have authority over it. however...they do not have entitlements to the thai shows.

EXACTLY - Mayura does not have the copyrights to the actual Lakorns :) They can't do anything to the physical store because who are they going to report? The landlord? eheheheh But they are threatening the website host and website host can only pass down the information to their client.

Hmmmm.. come to think about it, maybe I should help my friend and seek a professional letter questioning Mayura about their copyrights hmmmm interesting ehehehe.
sorry...i totally thought you were ekosantine owner.
anyhow, you should help your friend seek someone if you're angry and want to retaliate for ekosantine, however it may not do any good. mayura may not have copyrights to all the channels, but only the owners of the thai tv channels are able to prosecute them. even if you and i told authorities about mayura and what they are doing, no one can do anything except the thai tv peeps. and im pretty sure that thai tv knows about cambodia and their dubbings...mayura's been around for 2 decades if not more. i dont think thai tv care...

seems like a loose and loose situation if you ask me. loose for mayura loose for mayura fans.

i dont think mayura made a lot of money. i dont think dounut store owners make money. i think a lot of cambodians put on a front and pretend to be rich. doing business with cambodian is too small to be rich from. you need to make products that sell not only to cambodians...but around the world! thats what you call rich! lol. as for the mulitple wives.....i hear that a lot about cambodians regardless if they are rich or poor ugly or pretty..fat or not.

Agree - and I had mentioned this in my previous post as well that the only entities that are able to take legal actions with Mayura is the Thai TV Broadcaster or if any company decides to buy the sole rights to those title.

I'm still a fan of Thai Lakorn - just the one with P'ek and N'ek that I like. I watch it in Thai and as they air so Mayura returns doesn't affect me at all - just my friend ehehhe

I'm currently watching Sai Sok with Rome and Ja and if Mayura take recommend or votes on what to dubbed, then definitely dubbed Sai Sok. Pass on Reun Sawn Ruk even if it's Kob.. I personally don't like it as much. Also watching Wiwa Wawoon with Chompoo and Ken and it's a good time killer. :)

I called a couple of times and they don't pick up.. And Yes, I remember when Mayura switch to Dvd.. Man that sh*t wasn't original.. It was burnt by them.. Then ya de dah about their story and brought to a better dvd.. But still poor with their machine.. Now I guess they have better stuff because of the sound effect.. Lol.. Because Chinese series, their movies even though they were dubbed.. You can still hear the sound effect.. Now Mayura wants to do that.. Lol.. Let's see how far this goes... ^_^.. Khmer people so funny

i have experience with angkorwat:
i've buyed mayura's lakorn: copy and bad quality, you can see the "stop" and "pause", they use i guess a toshiba recorder
for ntry: copy and not like the original but more like a non stop movie and believe me a dvd which is about 6 hours watching it non stop at the end you want to put it in the dust!

ekomsantime:
mayura's lakorns: good quality (one of the best) but very expensive. too bad i was lurking for "domlay manous" but they don't sell it anymore

khmer hut:
bad quality but cheaper than ekomsantime

dubbed lakorn:
no experience yet

mayuravoiceproduction.com :
good quality and original disc but too long to update their website

ntrytv:
use to be good but now quality really sucks, shipping is free

i'm not talking about cutiekhmergirl. she's not the one i'm thinking.

About Mayra:

the best thing with all of these things it's the fact that now people can rent again their lakorn... That's funny 'cuz with youtube, it was hard for them to do that.. and now, everyone is running after the renter ( who are rellly cheap 'cuz only 3 to 4 euros the lakorn)...

About buying online:

I used to order online but got a really bad experience with some website that charged me too much.. now i just order them from cambodia ( soryia Mall store), it's cheaper ( only 1$ the dvd) and really high quality ... and then they got different dubbed company...

I'm an avid poster on youtube too and as of yesterday my account got suspended. No warning from youtube. Yes, I received an email a few weeks back in regards to copyright infringement claim made by Mayura of which I deleted all my Mayura vids, since I only have a couple. The majority of my postings are Ntry. Made some complaints and received an email from youtube listing my three strikes/reasons to my suspension. All three made by Mayura, two are valid but the third copyright claim was to a video I posted dubbed by Ntry!!!!

i don't know if ntry is doing the same but i also received a mail from youtube about a ntry's video. i let them delete it but after 3 warnings your account got suspended, right? i prefer delete my account myself.
title of the video: "samoth alay snaeh" and the dubber was ntry
