my hope is that august 29, 2005 does not repeat it's self all over again... i remember the night we took in evacuee's,,, it just torn at my heart to see the look on the faces of the ppl as we helped them off the plane... everything they owned was carried in plastic bags... most had just what they were wearing... this time i think we as a nation have time to prepare... our leaders can't let us down again no matter the cost... i'm ready to do my part if it happens again i just hope others will and are willing to help the Americans this time in their hour of need if it comes!!!

lol I'm not worried, I grew up on the Gulf Coast (a small town, 30 mins. from Corpus Christi, I lived literally, just across the street from the beach), and for all the years that I've lived there, we've only had to evacuate once. I live in Houston now, and I keep seeing signs on the highway telling drivers to keep their gas tank full because it's hurrican season, yeah, like that's going to happen -- not with the gas prices these days.

Anyway, we tend to just get a lot of rain, which is normal, strong winds and flooding in certains parts -- other than that I think we're okay here.
People living at the curve, ie. Lousiana coast and Galveston should probably be more worried. Don't forget to stock up on fresh water!

Theres already a hurricane coming! uh-oh :huh:
I remember when Hurricane Rita happend, all of our
relatives from Houston had to evacuate and come here
to Dallas, and boy was there alot of people. I remember
my family and our close friends went to Orlando, Florida
and every night we were there, it rained. I guess thats
just Florida.:huh:

Gosh don't talk about hurricane Rita ... lol I remember that night I was so pissed off. I was getting off school late at night.. school's already an hour drive away for me, but nope not that night all the evac's from houston were on the highway I was taking home.. traffic was stuck for 4 hours straight .. it was 3 a.m by the time i finally moved! I realized the entire time the freaking county had the highway closed because they didn't want to "obstruct" traffic from the evacs.. I was like so you trap people in for 3-4 hours straight? I was so pissed. I ended up turning back and going to school and sleeping in my car because I had to be there at 8 am for an exam and if i went home I wouldn't have had the energy to drive back to school <_<;

But the hurricane is slowing down isn't it? I hope things get better and it's just a small one it would be horrible to see people go through that again.
